The Story of Us Trilogy Continues …

Elizabeth Parker has been found …

Like a falling star she has come down to earth, landing painfully on the debris of a broken dream. What she thought of as love now seems no more than a wish left unfulfilled. Her future lies in the hands of two powerfully possessive men; each desiring her to the point of insanity.

Flawless media mogul Ayden Stone oversees her voyage of sexual awakening, introducing her to new experiences and a secret world behind locked doors, away from prying eyes.

But … is he Prince Charming or merely the great pretender?
With a fighter’s instinct, Dan Rizler continues to box clever; taking his time, waiting for the right moment to strike. He will have his Princess one way or another.

Into this twisted triangle enters Elise Richards; a woman with a past and a passion for revenge: hell hath no fury like Miss. Richards.

This is a modern fairy tale full of romance, secrets and suspense. Elizabeth Parker is about to be caught, held fast by the hand of Fate; but will she be caught out or caught up in an affair of the heart, body and soul?
When nothing else matters … you have to do or die.

My Review

After reading Touchstone for Play, the first book in this Trilogy, I was very keen to read this second installment. The first book was very captivating and this one didn't disappoint.

Ayden Stone is an International billionaire and Beth is an English School Teacher. They love each with heart body and soul but they both have demons haunting them and whenever, they think nothing can come between them, something materialises and tear them apart.

Dan is totally deluded about Beth being his Princess and is determined to rekindle something which never existed, regardless of the fact that he is the one responsible for her demons.

Elise is an Estate agent who meets Dan whilst helping him with new accommodation when he was planning to move nearer to Beth in order to carry out his plans. They become friendly with each other and soon find out that they both have something to gain by keeping Beth and Ayden apart. It turns out that Elise has a past with Ayden and she too would stop at nothing to succeed in making her own claim on Ayden! They soon become partners in crime and when Ayden and Beth are out of the country, they initiate plan A which has an adverse effect on Ayden and Beth but backfires for them as well.

Ayden and Beth become closer than ever during their time out of the country. The love they have for each other is like something out of a Fairy Tale and when they are at their happiest, they are pulled apart once more. Will their unconditional love survive this upheaval? Will Dan and Elise succeed in tearing them apart for good?

This installment is as good if not better than the first one. I like the way, things from their past come to light and how they deal with these issues. I admire Beth's strength and the way she deals with an impossible situation where many would have given up. Ayden's devotion is second to none. This book is full of twists and emotions run high. I totally felt what they went through and would recommend this Trilogy to 18 + Romance Lovers. It is very emotional and romantic. The end left me in tears and with fear of the unknown. What can I say? I am a romantic. The good thing is I have the last book and can dive in straightaway.

I received this book in exchange for an honest review. Thank you Ms Jamesson for giving me the opportunity to go on this journey with Beth and Ayden.

About the Author

Seldom does a writer appear out of the mist, fully formed and equipped to introduce the world to their 'perfect' prose. More often than not it has taken years and, in the case of Sydney Jamesson, decades; to come to the point where she can say: "I'm ready. This is it, I'm done!" Now is that time. She has always scribbled things down; in her home is one enormous waste paper basket full of discarded phrases, opening lines and pieces of dialogue that have hit her like lightening in the middle of the night or whilst parked up at a set of traffic lights. She has worked in Insurance, Fashion and in advertising as a Copywriter and Commercial Journalist and loved every minute of it. For the past 15 years she has been an English Teacher. But ... for as long as she can remember she has lived with The Story of Us in her head. The fact Elizabeth Parker is an English teacher should come as no surprise: novelists write, initially, about what they know ... Yet, she confesses, Elizabeth is not her but rather that young, sensitive and naïve woman we all were or still are. So that's her, furiously typing away until the early hours, creating an epic tale that covers an 18 month period, taking three novels to unveil the intricacies of a 21st century fairy tale.

Print Length             319 pages

I'm free. Fucking free

I’m in college with my best friends and far, far from home!
With my Scheuermann’s disease as the excuse, my father kept me locked up at home all through high school. Here in Deepsilver, I can finally be me, Pandora, so—

Why the hell should I hold back?

They accept our fake IDs at Smother, our local haunt. I’m the life of the party, everyone loves me—hell, I could get away with murder in this place! Drunk off my ass, I dance on the bar, and—

I’m on top of the world!

I need to get my shit together, though. If I don’t pull off good grades, my father won’t pay my tuition. There’s no way I’m moving back into his “fortress.”

At the bar, I set my eyes on a gorgeous stranger. My plans don’t involve him long term; one night should be enough. But Dominic is more than I bargained for. God, I’m so drawn to this man. My skin hums at his touch because—

He expels the shadows of my past and replaces my pain with desire.

Perfect Dominic. Beautiful, graduating, soon-to-move-on-with-his-life Dominic.

I’m a wild child. A hot mess. Not grownup and focused like him. He’s addictive, and I am weak, but—screw this; I can wean myself off him! With the right antidote......

My Review

I received this book from the author in exchange for an honest review. I loved the way Mrs Dee expressed her love for her family in the introduction to this book.

Pandora suffers from Scheuermann's Disease and has lived a very sheltered life within a very strict family environment. When she leaves home with her three best friends, she is almost drunk on the freedom ahead of her. Some things which happened in her upbringing have unfortunately left Psychological Scars.

Dominic is a Physiotherapy Student who works in a spa to earn extra money by giving massages to individuals who suffer from similar medical condition to Pandora. He meets Pandora in a bar one evening and she seduces him into taking her home but when she goes for her first treatment for her Scheuermann's, she discovers that he is the therapist allocated to her. They form a bond but Pandora denies any other feelings as she thinks he is too good for her because of her wild side.

Leon is the owner of the bar which becomes Pandora's favourite haunt and he is attracted to her but he is bad news! This doesn't stop Pandora from getting involved despite her friends' and Dominic's concern.

When Leon tries to control her, she fights back but he has his own ways of getting what he wants but then again she is very determined too! Can she get away from him and will she admit to her feelings for  Dominic and vice versa?

I enjoyed reading this very well written book, which shows how Psychological traumas can affect your life. It was also difficult to predict what would happen next with all the twists and turns. I would recommend this great NA novel to anybody over the age of 18. Another great one Mrs Dee. Thank you.
About the Author

Originally from Norway, I moved to the United States twelve years ago. I hold a Master's degree in languages and taught Spanish at college level before settling in at the Savannah College of Art and Design as an adviser.

I write New Adult fiction, sometimes with a paranormal twist—like in “Shattering Halos,” published by The Wild Rose Press in February 24th 2014 and in “Stargazer,” estimated release date, November 2014. The first book I’m self-publishing is the New Adult Contemporary novel “Pandora Wild Child,” which will make me a proud indie author October 28th 2014!

I specialize in impulsive heroines, bad-boys, and good-boys running amok.
Then, there’s the intense love, physical and emotional attraction beyond reason—sensory overload for the reader as well as for the characters. Like in real life, I hope you’re unable to predict what comes next in my stories.

Yes, so I write what I love to read, and depending on the reader, you'll find my books to be a fast-paced emotional rollercoaster—or a disturbing read because the struggles of love aren’t your thing. Here’s to hoping you have the same reading vice as me!

Touchstone for Play - Book #1 in the Touchstone Trilogy by Sydney Jamesson

Author                        Sydney Jamesson
Format                        Kindle
Print Length               348 pages
Publication Date        4 January 2014
Genre                           Adult Romance
My Rating                    5 stars out of 5

The Story of Us Trilogy Begins ...

Twenty seven year old English teacher Elizabeth Parker is waiting to be found. Like the secrets of her past, her beauty is hidden, concealed behind modest clothes and a gentle nature. Into her secluded world enter two powerful men.
Handsome playboy, Ayden Stone is flawless and as skilled in the bedroom as he is in the boardroom. He has a taste for rare and beautiful things, and he wants to taste her: he’ll do anything to make it happen. Uninitiated in the art of seduction, Beth embarks upon a voyage of sexual awakening, allowing Ayden to steer her towards deep and dangerous waters, unaware of their fateful connection.
From a distance, former boxer Dan Rizler, bides his time but never loses sight of the object of his desire: precious Miss Parker. His tormented soul reaches out to her with merciless hands: he must have her.
This is a modern fairy tale full of romantic moments, music and monstrous encounters. Elizabeth Parker is about to be found but will she be bound by her destiny or by her

demon …

My Review

This book was given to me by the author in exchange for an honest review.

Beth Parker went through a terrible ordeal when she was at Cambridge University. She is now 27 years old and to go unnoticed she wears not so flattering clothes and hides behind her glasses! She is a School Teacher in London and except for her friend Charlie, she pretty much keeps to herself .

Ayden Stone is a very successful International Businessman and one of the most sexy and eligible batchlor. He meets Beth when he goes to deliver a presentation at the school.  His good looks along with his dress sense and the way he carries himself with so much much confidence creates an impact on Beth but above all, she feels attracted to him. Something she hasn't felt in a long time.

Ayden is drawn to Beth just as much and usually goes after what he wants and he doesn't like to lose. Beth is surprised when he invites her out since she thinks she is not his "type". The sexual attraction between them is very palpable and as they get to know each other, Beth regains some of her confidence and they both find that they like each other's company. The other thing is that they both develop very strong feelings for each other and feel that they have found what they have been waiting for.

Then there is Dan who has this obsession with Beth to the point where he is convinced that she belongs to him and she will be his no matter what it takes, whereas Beth is totally unaware of his plans.

The relationship between Ayden and Beth is so beautiful that I could feel their love for each other but when uncertainty creeps in, it brought tears to my eyes.

I like the way Ayden is considerate towards Beth whereas he is totally different when it comes to business. Beth is very understanding about Ayden's background and the reasons he behaves the way he does at times. I also admire the friendship and loyalty between Beth and Charlie.

This book is full of love, passion, doubts as well as sadness and grief. It's a beautiful love story, which I would recommend to those who like a good romance with explicit sexual scenes.

I now look forward to reading the next book in this Trilogy as I would like to know what's in store for Beth and Ayden. Thank you Ms Jamesson for allowing me to read this wonderful love story.

Genre                        Fantasy
Publication Date     4 September 2014
Book Length            280 pages
My Rating                 5 stars out of 5

In a secret land, far away from the habitation of man, dwell the world's remaining dragons -- hoping the dragsaur beasts have vanished forever. Here they try to live their daily lives, but all is not well and their talents are fading.

Things change, however, when, from a strange egg, Yoshiko is born - a dragon with a unique destiny.

Great adventure lies ahead as many challenges must be overcome, leading to a dangerous mission to the human world in attempt to return to the clans their missing magic!

Can Yoshiko make it in time?

My Review

I received this book from the author in exchange for an honest review. I would like to thank the author for asking me to read this book which I might have otherwise overlooked.

The Gift of Charms is about seven different clans of dragons who lived in the land of Dragor. They all had different skill sets, pottery and fishing being two of them. What set them apart was the seven different colours reflected on their scales. They were the only survivors from a great war, where the Dinosaurs and the Dragsaurs became extinct!  The Dragons had been slaves to humans and nowthey were free and lived in isolation from other beings.

Throughout the ages different stories had been told about the nature of the different clans and some considered themselves superior to others.

Yoshiko was hatched from an egg which was totally different from what was considered to be normal. The egg was multicoloured and his mother Kiara worried about the gossips going around. His father Ketu was well aware of the problems they might encounter about Yoshiko since he had to use bribery to stop Yoshiko from being taken away from them at birth.

When Yoshiko started school where he was to learn how to make fire,  he came across a bully named Igorr who took great pleasure in humiliating him.  During one of these confrontations with Igorr, he flew off and ended up in forbidden land where he came across Guya , an Elder who lived in isolation. This chance meeting turned out to be the beginning of Yoshiko's journey, when he told Guya the reasons for his distress.

He gave Yoshiko three hard tasks, meant for endurance as well as will power. Yoshiko was meant to bring the seven clans together and to regain their dwindling powers.

Will Yoshiko complete these tasks and bring the clans together?

I enjoyed reading this very well written novel and would recommend to all ages.

Length                       287 pages

My Rating                  5 stars out of 5

For Mackenzie Green life is full of regrets; regrets from choices she made in the past, regrets for the things she’ll never see in her future. She regrets letting her grades slip while her sister was in rehab, ensuring she’ll never break away from the rumor-run, small town she lives in. She regrets breaking up with her future All American football playing boyfriend, Brayden Turner out of fear of getting hurt. Most of all she regrets every decision she made leading up to the night that changed her life forever.

It’s only after Brayden cuts her off completely that Mackenzie realizes how much she wants him in her life. She’s learns that losing what you love breaks you, but sometimes it’s the only way to tap into your inner strength.

Can Mackenzie find the courage to learn from her mistakes and move forward or will she spend her days consumed with regrets? Is it too late to convince Brayden she wants him in her life and that she’s in it for the long haul? Most of all, can she accept that sometimes bad things happen no matter how hard you try to protect yourself from them? Can she put it all behind her or will she live an unfulfilled life full of regrets?

My Review

I received this book from the author in exchange for an honest review and would like to thank Danielle Sibarium for giving me this opportunity.

Kenzie, a High School student is very cautious about making the mistake of getting too involved with any of the boys for fear of ending up the way, her sister Jess did. Jess had a bad experience, where she felt so heart broken that she resorted to means which nearly destroyed her life.

Brayden is the football hero worshipped by all at the school. When Kenzie is man handled by her date at a celebratory after game party, Brayden goes to check on her when she decides to go out for some fresh air. She is surprised when he approaches her as they had never talked to each other before. Instantly, she puts up her guards, him being the hero of the team and having all the other girls drooling over him. She receives a call from her father about her sister being admitted to a hospital and Brayden offers to give her a lift which she reluctantly accepts.

When they arrive at their destination, instead of thanking him, she goes on the defensive and is fairly rude to him. This doesn't deter him from going after her to make sure she is alright. She then apologises and they exchange telephone numbers before he leaves. From then on, they develop this beautiful friendship even though, their feelings run deeper than friendship, which they decide to keep from each other for different reasons.

When they eventually take their relationship one step further, it is time for graduation and Brayden has to move away, whilst Kenzie attends a local college. Even though Brayden has proved to Kenzie that he could be trusted, she decides to break up to allow him to get on with his college life! He is devastated but he respects her wishes, whilst managing to convince her to attend the Homecoming dance with him.

When they go back to his dorm room after the dance, they find that their feelings for each other is still as strong if not stronger than before. Then something goes drastically wrong and Kenzie pushes Brayden away once again, which appears to push Brayden to the limit.

From here on, the emotions run really high. I became so involved, that my emotions ran in par with theirs. I wasn’t quite prepared for what transpired when they eventually got back together and thought nothing else could go wrong. I don't really want to say much more so as not to give away any spoilers but be prepared to go on a real emotional rollercoaster.

I liked the way Brayden supported Kenzie and the strength of Kenzie's character even when she thought that she was weak. I liked the intensity of their feelings for each other but will that be enough to keep them together? There isn't anything I didn't like about this book if anything it is one which I will read again.

This is the first novel I have read by this author and I can honestly say that it is one of the best YA novel, I have read and would fully recommend to those who like reading a good YA romance. And there is no cliff hanger!

Coming Home by Paloma Beck

Author                         Paloma Beck
Format                        Kindle
Print Length               137 pages
Publication Date        7 December 2012
Genre                           Adult Contemporary Romance
My Rating                    4 stars out of 5

Rachel Porter, a romance writer, has told her three sons tales of finding their true soul mate since they were just boys. She lives with the belief that there is but one match for every person. Now as men, they have yet to discover their soul mates. That is, until they come home…

Ryan Porter, Rachel’s oldest son, needs a change from his busy city lifestyle. After five years of living in New York and establishing his own real estate firm, something is still missing. When a family tragedy brings Ryan back to his family’s rural home, he meets Tyra. She just might be the catalyst for the change he needs, redirecting the course of his life. But first he must accept his relationship with his parents and embrace Tyra’s secrets.

My Review

I received a copy of this book from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

Ryan is very successful in the Real Estate business. He left home seven years ago to pursue his dreams in the city. He lived with his girlfriend Kimmi but his life revolved more around his work than his personal one. Kimmi was very self centred and liked the lifestyle, which Ryan could provide, hence an unhappy relationship.

When Ryan received a call from his mother to inform him that his dad was involved in a car accident and was now in the hospital, Ryan didn't hesitate to pack straight away but refused to allow Kimmi to accompany him. If anything, he couldn't get away from her fast enough.

When he arrived, he met with his mother and younger brother Henry who had never left home and helped to run the family business. He was shocked to find out that his dad's condition was critical and it was a question of wait and see. His brother Davis was in the Marines and obtained leave to come and visit his father too. It had been a long time since all three brothers had been together and despite the situation and the anger about what was happening, their love for their mother and for each other was very palpable.

Ryan was angry with himself and felt guilty for not visiting sooner or more often. He was full of regrets, when he saw his dad in a coma. They took turn in staying in the hospital, then one night decided to go to one of their old haunt which they frequently visited when they were younger.

When they arrived, they noticed three girls playing pool and Ryan was instantly attracted to Tyra, who in turn liked what she saw too. They ended up on the dance floor and afterwards spent a passionate and sizzling night together. Tyra had heard about Ryan from his mother and felt like she knew him but as far as he was concerned, it was just a fling before going back to the city but the more time they spent together, the more confused he became about his feelings.

Then, the inevitable happened and Ryan's dad died and his emotions were all over the place, regretting the things he never got to share with his father when he was in the city, whilst still trying to work out his feelings for Tyra. His mother had always told her sons that everyone had a soulmate, something Ryan always rationalised.

Was his mother right? Was Tyra meant to be his soulmate? It sure looked that way, when they were together and Tyra was totally smitten but Ryan remained sceptical despite the way he felt about her. Will he eventually admit that he was in love with her and leave his city life to be with her?

I liked the way the brothers interacted with each other and how supportive they were towards each other and their mother, who was a kind and considerate lady. I also liked the friendship between Henry and Tyra as well as his fondness towards Tyra's daughter Layne, a real sweetheart.

This is the first book which I have read by this author and will certainly look out for more of her work and hope that there is more to come about Davis and Henry. I would mrecommend this book to those who like reading a sexy romance with an emotional rollercoaster.

Though fate seems determined to tear them apart, they won't give up without a fight-because while time may have limits, their love is infinite . . .
My Review
I received this book from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

I  didn't read book one in the series but soon found myself engrossed in this book. The occasional glimpse of what happened in the past gave an indication of what might have happened in the first book. Although in hindsight, it would have been better to have read the first book, it is something I intend to revisit.

Having lost her sister in an accident and her parents being separated, Talia is at a loss. She decides to leave America and go to Australia to meet her boyfriend and continue her studies. She suffers from OCD but has found a way to keep it hidden from her friends. Her boyfriend Bran is about the only one who can detect the signs and does his best to help her.

Bran is Australian and he too is studying for his degree but feels that his life is not complete without Talia. He cannot wait for her to arrive and when they meet again, the love between them is very palpable. They get on very well together and seem to make up for each other's shortfalls. They are both on the right track with their studies but neither of them has quite forgotten their dreams and ambitions.

Bran is quite happy to carry on the way they are as long as Talia is besides him but Talia feels that they should both try to achieve their ambitions as she feels that their love is strong enough to overcome any difficulties. Talia is set on joining the Peace Corps, whereas Bran is hesitant about pursuing his ambition with the Marine Conservation Organisation.

This is where their love for each other is put to the test. Will Talia have the heart to leave Bran behind and trust that love will prevail?
Can Bran come to terms with his fear of losing Talia if they are separated to pursue their goals?

I like the way Bran and Talia interact with each other and how they cope with each other's problems without thinking twice about how and what they do to help each other. I find the way Talia deals with Bran's insecurities, which is partly due to his childhood and upbringing very endearing. Bran is also very patient and understanding in how he helps Talia with her OCD.

I enjoyed reading this novel, which I found very romantic despite the family dramas and the uncertainties about career decisions and the impact on such a beautiful relationship. I look forward to reading the next instalment in the series.

About the Author

Lia Riley writes offbeat New Adult Romance. After studying at the University of Montana-Missoula, she scoured the world armed only with a backpack, overconfidence and a terrible sense of direction. She counts shooting vodka with a Ukranian mechanic in Antarctica, sipping yerba mate with gauchos in Chile and swilling XXXX with stationhands in Outback Australia among her accomplishments.

A British literature fanatic at heart, Lia considers Mr. Darcy and Edward Rochester as her fictional boyfriends. Her very patient husband doesn't mind. Much. When not torturing heroes (because c'mon, who doesn't love a good tortured hero?), Lia herds unruly chickens, camps, beach combs, daydreams about as-of-yet unwritten books, wades through a mile-high TBR pile and schemes yet another trip. Right now, Icelandic hot springs and Scottish castles sound mighty fine.

She and her family live mostly in Northern California.

My Review

obtained this book via NetGalley and the Author in exchange for an honest review. This is the first novel written by this author.

Daniela went through ordeal at college in her hometown, which made her very cautious of getting close to members of the opposite sex. To make matters worse, her best friend was raped and murdered around the same time.

She moved away from her hometown to continue her studies and to escape the bad experiences and memories. She now dressed down and wore very little makeup, if any at all. She also kept to herself as much as she could. She threw herself in her studies and worked in a coffee house when she was not studying. She didn't even socialise.

She met Nathan one evening, whilst she was working and they became good friends even though their feelings for each other were more than friendship. Nathan was very kind and considerate and as they interacted more with each other, she divulged her past to him. Then along came Alex, who was drawn to her and she decided to date him, whilst keeping her friendship with Nathan.

At that point, I felt that she was very selfish and totally insensitive to Nathan's feelings. There was a part of Alex's life, which was not so desirable and consequently led to tragic consequences. I found it difficult to warm up to Daniela during that time. Then her life became more complicated, when she was attacked one night and discovered that she had a stalker. She felt that she was always threatened and her past became a constant reminder of her terrible ordeal.

There were quite a few twists and turns along the way and eventually, the main person responsible for her best friend's rape and murder was caught. It turned out that he was the same one responsible for what happened to her in the past as well as being her stalker. I did warm up to Daniela eventually.

The thing I liked most about this novel was the way Nathan honoured their friendship and the support of the few friends she had throughout all her difficult times.

This book is suitable for 18+ as it contains rape scenes, drug dealing and some violence otherwise it's a good read considering, this is this author's debut novel. My Rating is 3.5 out of 5
