My Review

I am totally loving the Dark Alpha series.

Episode two picks up, right where it left off in episode one.

Jak is trying to get to the bottom of what happened to him and Arianna when he was her escort to the college.

What transpired between Jak and Arianna in the last episode is getting more and more intense. At the moment,  the prospect of them being together is very bleak due to the fact that Arianna is mated to Mace and the nature of being werewolves calls for cautions as the repercussions could be very unpleasant.

I am so looking forward to the next episode to see how the mysteries surrounding the incident at the college unfold. Besides, will Jak find a way to break the "unbreakable" mating bond between Arianna and Mace?

I received an ARC from the author in exchange for an honest review and I would like to thank her for giving me the opportunity to read this compelling and intriguing story.

The Hero by Amy Andrews

Author                            Amy Andrews
Format                            Kindle
Publication Date           23 January 2015
Print Length                  114 pages
Genre                              Adult Contemporary Romance
My Rating                       4 stars out of 5

Synopsis

The darling of the Aussie small screen, Edwina Calloway, has always had a thing for her ex co-star the hunky Justin Wilde – even before he took off to Tinsel town and became a Hollywood heartthrob. And Justin always had a thing for her. Except she was married already, so neither of them ever crossed that line. But now Justin's back in Oz to take part in a celebrity car rally with Edwina riding shotgun and she isn't married anymore...

It seems the entire country is holding its breath for their much vaunted reunion. Can they survive a five day road trip, just the two of them alone in the car under intense media scrutiny without finally getting naked and doing the Wilde thing? And if they can’t, what happens at the end when Justin heads back to Hollywood?

The Hot Aussie Hero series
Book 1: The Cowboy by Margareta Osborn
Book 2: The Hero by Amy Andrews
Book 3: The Playboy by Madeline Ash
Book 4: The Millionaire by Victoria Purman

My Review

Edwina works for the film industry and is famous for a series on Channel 5 in Australia. She hasn't seen the Co star for two years and he is now invited to participate in a charity event where they have to work together again.

Justin is now a well known actor in the US but returns to take part in the charity event with Edwina. There has always been chemistry between them but they didn't act on it even though it was obvious when they were on screen. Edwina is no longer attached but she refuses to give in, in view of the photographers following them throughout this event.

When they eventually give in, away from the prying eyes of the media and planning to keep the fans guessing until the end of the event, something distasteful happens. To top it all, Edwina is exposed to adverse publicity regarding her private life but they are both determined to put things straight and out of this something quite unexpected takes place.

This is an easy to read romance, which held my interest throughout and I would recommend to those who like a good sensual romance.

I received this book from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

Publication Date                  23 January 2015
Genre                                     Contemporary Romance
My Rating                              5 stars out of 5

Synopsis

Renowned photographer Chris Malone is fed up with fame and disaster. All he wants is anonymity and a chance to recharge. Suburban journalist Ellie Flannery has other ideas. If she can just convince her long-time idol to support her favorite cause, she knows her fund-raiser will be a huge success.

After refusing at first, Chris decides to co-operate. When he’s forced to defend his own reputation as well as his family’s, he decides he wants something from the idealistic and sexy-but-doesn’t-know-it Ms Flannery Ellie in return: her heart.

But Ellie has scars that no one has ever seen, and she doesn’t want to open herself up to anyone, much less a man with such an unflinching eye for the truth. Can Chris convince her to strip herself bare, in more ways than one?

My Review

Chris is a renowned Photographer who spends his time travelling the world trying to capture photographs which usually make the headlines in the main global newspapers.

Ellie lives in Sydney, where she works as a journalist. Chris returns to Sydney for a well earned break and meets Ellie by chance. She recognises him straightaway and when she asks him for a favour, he refuses blankly.

Ellie has been idolising Chris for quite some time and is quite put out by his response and attitude. They both carry scars in different ways and as they get to know each, they form a relationship, knowing that it can only be temporary.

I like the story line and the pace with which it is relayed. It is also a beautiful romance, bringing with it all kinds of emotions. I would recommend to those of a romantic nature.

I received this book from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

Bite the Big Apple (#4 Baby Girl) by Elle Klass

Author                          Elle Klass
Format                          Kindle
Print Length                 67 pages
Publication Date          18 January 2015
Genre                             Young Adult 16 +
My Rating                      5 stars out of 5

Synopsis

Living in New York, working for the people who wanted to kill me, I was in the pit of the lion’s den and preferred not to be their next meal, so I started carrying a knife. Clutching my purse housing my blade closely and replaying the self defense skills Sam had taught me in Paris through my mind, I felt relatively safe. They hadn’t failed me yet, although a six foot man would be much harder to take down than a five foot woman. I wasn’t going without a fight. I kept my purse close. Doing my best to hide my nervousness I asked, “Do you have an appointment sir?”
He placed his paper on the chair beside him and stood up. I braced myself. Then he spoke. “Yes, I’m Mitchel Strat I spoke with William this morning and he ask ed me to meet him here at one o’clock.” The left side of his lips turned up in a quirky sly smile giving away his recognition of me.

My Review

Using the leads obtained at the end of the last part of this story, Shanna is now working for "Briggs" a very wealthy and powerful family in the hope of uncovering some of the mysteries surrounding her life.

She carries her own investigations methodically and is determined enough not to be deterred by anything or anybody. More surprises are in store and emotions run high. The story flows nicely bringing with it a sense of achievement and closure. It's difficult to go in much more details without giving spoilers to those who have yet to follow Cleo/Justine/Shanna on her journey, which started at the age of twelve. She is now twenty one years old and full of wisdom with a sense of justice.

I for one, didn't want it to end and look forward to the next instalment.

I have been totally engrossed in all four parts of this story and would highly recommend to those who like to be taken on an emotional rollercoaster. I received this book from the author in exchange for an honest review.

Publication Date    13 July 2014
Genre                        Young Adult 16+
My Rating                5 stars out of 5

Synopsis

Follow Cleo, who has once again changed her identity, this time to Shanna Nu, an orange moppy-headed homely girl, or so she tries to portray, as she travels to San Francisco seeking employment with the La Tige Detective Agency to search for answers. La Tige, a hard, sloppy man, lacking in social graces manages to worm a way right into her heart. Finally entering adulthood, Cleo realizes who she is inside, and through La Tige and a few other friends, she finds that true affection is forcing her to desperately pursue the answers to the mystery surrounding her birth and biological family. She manages to tie up a few loose ends while unraveling a few more.

My Review

Cleo had changed her name to Justine when she left America to go to Paris. Her main objective for leaving Paris to return to America was to find some answers about the missing pieces in her life.

Now that she is back in America, she changes her identity yet again and is now Shanna Nu. She is successful in obtaining a job with an investigative agency and as it so happens the Private Investigator could well have some of the answers she is looking for.

As the story unravels, things begin to fall into place and Shanna is more intent on obtaining more answers which will hopefully bring more clarity to her quest. I like her strength of character and her determination. I have really enjoyed following Shanna's journey since she was twelve years old and I look forward to being part of the remaining part of her journey.

This book is suitable for Young Adults who are 16+ and it is advisable to read the first two books before moving on to this one.

Print Length          37 pages
Publication Date   28 March 2014
Genre                      Young Adult 16+
My Rating               5 stars out of 5

Synopsis

Follow Cleo as she transforms into the glamorous Justine and falls into a life of unimaginable wealth when Didier the owner of a hotel empire is beguiled by her mysterious and na├»ve charms. Her life becomes one of luxury and fame beyond anything she could have ever imagined. Remnants of her past continue to haunt her and a new threat appears; is her latest peril related to her past or someone else’s, someone who has become a large part of her new life.

My Review

This book picks up where it left off in book one.

Having changed her identify in book one, Cleo is now known as Justine. She changes her looks to suit her name and her new life in Paris. When Justine walks in a hotel to book her accommodation, she meets Didier, the manager and owner of the hotel.

Didier takes an instant liking to her and she finds her lifestyle changing from one extreme to the other and she adapts fairly quickly to the change. This is a short part of the story too but it's very comprehensive. It contains danger, mystery, threats, love and surprises. I am keen to find out what's in store for Justine, especially in view of the way this part of the story ended. It is advisable to read book one, "The Beginning" before reading this part. This book is more suitable for Young Adults of 16+

Baby Girl - The Beginning (#1 Baby Girl)

Author                        Elle Klass
Format                        Kindle
Print Length              38 pages
Publication Date       1 January 2014
My Rating                   5 stars out of 5

Synopsis

Baby Girl Book 1: In the Beginning is a short story within a long series. More short stories in this series will follow in the near future.

Follow Cleo on her epic saga which begins when she abandoned by her mom at twelve. She has no other family which she is aware of, and in order to survive she leaves her home and lives on the streets. She meets some interesting characters and gets into some amusing predicaments all in the name of survival, such as jumping trains, being chased through the woods by a crazy man with a loaded shotgun and witnessing an unspeakable crime. After a few months on the streets she runs into another group of kids, Einstein is the oldest and a leader in the group, and they form a family of sorts. For survival and money they lean towards a life a crime which inevitably breaks up their family and sends Cleo and Einstein spiraling into their own adventure. Eventually they settle into a “normal” life however their pasts can’t be hushed forever …

My Review

Cleo lives with her mother and doesn't know her father.  She lives a very sheltered life, besides going to school. They have a very simple and somewhat poor lifestyle except for the odd occasions, when her mother would disappear for a few days and return with food and clothes.

Cloe is now twelve years old and when her mother goes absent for longer than usual, she decides to pack up and run. During that time, she learns how to fend for herself until she meets others who are in a similar situation to hers, including Einstein who is the oldest and assumes the role of their leader.

Cloe and Einstein make plans for the future to keep them safe but just when they think everything is going to plan, something goes drastically wrong. Even though, it's a short part of the full story, everything runs smoothly and falls into place. It's a very emotional read suitable for Young Adults. I am really looking forward to read the next part.
