Burned, Felix Sinclair has all but vowed never to get seriously involved with another woman as long as he lives. After a long day's work, Felix Sinclair is looking forward to getting back to his luxury apartment in the city. When he detours onto a road less traveled in order to shave off some travel time, the last thing he expects is to wind up stranded in a roadside ditch in the middle of a downpour--or to fall into the arms of a beautiful woman.

Recently divorced, jobless, friendless and utterly alone, Poppy Montgomery is struggling to convince herself that single life is what she wants--needs. Then a handsome stranger staggers into her life and sparks fly. Riding out the storm together is bound to stir up heat, but once it passes, will they be able to walk away?

STRANDED is the first in an interconnected series of erotic romance. Each book can be read as a stand alone, but you will find that each new character has been previously introduced in some way. As an introduction to the series, STRANDED is a novella, but rest assured each new addition will be a full length novel worth sinking your teeth into.

Pageflex Persona [document: PRS0000030_00031]

As he rocked against her, she could feel his length probing her entrance, and she lifted her hips, eager to take him in.

Felix laughed and pulled his hips back. Poppy groaned her displeasure. So impatient. He kissed her forehead and smoothed her hair away from her face as he gazed down at her. Not yet, kitten. First things first. Do you have any condoms in here?

Startled, Poppy shook her head. She didnt think she would ever find herself in this situation again, so she never thought to keep any on hand. Sex hadnt been the farthest thing from her mind, exactly, but having it with a man certainly had been. She had even stopped taking her birth control. And here she was, preparing to let some guy shed known for two minutes plunge himself into her, and she hadnt even thought about protection of any kind. She wanted to slap herself for being so stupid.

Thats okay, Felix assured her. I have a couple in my wallet. I just have to go and get them. He pushed himself off her and Poppy squirmed from the loss. Ill be right back.

She watched as he walked away, completely naked and not caring in the least. He looked almost as good walking away, she thought, smirking to herself. Lying in complete silence made the time stretch on forever. Bo shifted in the corner and huffed loudly, and Poppys head snapped up. He was staring at her in that way that animals sometimes do that makes you feel completely exposed and a little shameful.

What? Poppy asked, refusing to feel guilty. Im not doing anything wrong. Bo tilted his big head and looked at her quizzically. Dont look at me like that. When you go without sex for as long as I have, then we can talk. Besides, he seems like a perfectly nice guy, and I dont see you kicking up a fuss.

Felix strode into the room then and looked at her strangely. Who are you talking to?

Propped on her forearms, Poppy smiled shyly. Just Bo.

Ah. He glanced back at Bo. I dont think he likes me.

Poppy waved him off. If he didnt like you, I think youd be missing a limb right now. Bo is very protective of me, and the fact that he hasnt tried to kill you for touching me yet is pretty telling.

Yet being the operative word, Felix muttered as he climbed onto the bed and settled himself between her legs again. He held up a foil packet. I wonder how old Bo is going to react when his master is screaming to the heavens. He wagged his eyebrows at her and tore the foil open with his teeth.

Screaming, huh? Poppys belly clenched with anticipation. She watched as he rolled the condom down his erection.

Oh yes, he assured her with a wicked smile.

When he positioned himself at her opening, Poppy drew back slightly. I thought you said we were taking things slow?

Dropping down onto his forearm, Felix kissed her lips lightly and pushed the tip of his erection into her. Poppy sucked in a breath. I did say that, but then I came back to find you all spread out, waiting for me, and I changed my mind. I wont lie, this time will be fast. But after that, Im going to take all the time in the world to get to know this body.

Felix shoved his way into her body and Poppy nearly came undone. He was bigger than she was used to and he stretched her, touching every inch of her and creating a delicious friction that threatened to push her over the edge. He was right. This would be fast.

EXCERPT - No Place to Hide (Ultimate Vengeance)

No. She couldnt get Alekzander into trouble with the law simply because hed stopped loving her and had chosen to move on without telling her first. She should. She should spill every little secret she had, not that there were many. But she never would. Despite everything, he was her daughters father.

Then again, she thought, feeling ill, if it came down to it and she had to choose between keeping Lekzi in her life and Alekzanders freedom, well, there was no choice. But until then

That would not work because I was never personally aware of anything he or his family did that might have been illegal. For all I know, their intimidating reputation could have been created simply to make themselves feel special.

She saw Justins head turn her way but didnt meet the look because then hed see she was lying through her teeth. He tapped his thumbs on the steering wheel.

This may sound insensitive, but why didnt you go back home to your family when things fell apart here?

Wishing he could drive faster, she answered honestly. I am an only child, and, as you know, my parents are gone. But even if I had someone there, at that time, I could not afford to go home. He frowned in confusion, so she went on, her cheeks heating. While I was with Alekzander, I did not work, or go back to school as I had planned. When I left Russia, I dropped out of my fourth year of university, she explained. But I had every intention of applying to colleges here so I could finish my liberal arts degree. I had planned to go into the field of Human Resources, but, as I said, I did not. She moved on because she could hear how defensive she was beginning to sound. Alekzander enjoyed having me at home, and I enjoyed being there for him.

Shame coated that last bit, revealing how little she thought of the decision shed made back then. She should never have given up her independence. She suspected that had much to do with what had happened.

So he kept you broke and dependent on him? Justin questioned as they came out of the tunnel and traveled the relatively empty streets of Queens heading for Sunnyside.

No, of course not. He was very generous. I had credit cards and a bank account that I could use freely.

Feeling small, she wanted to add that she wasnt a parasite, but hearing herself, she found she couldnt. Her and Alekzanders first real fight had been about her working to save the money she would need to return to school. Hed convinced her it wasnt something that had to be decided right then and had quieted her protests by saying theyd discuss her education later. It had always been later. And shed let him get away with discounting her future. Had she not been such a pushover, so eager to please him, would things have been different?

I did not use his money after things ended, she murmured.

Why? Any other woman, especially a pregnant one, would have withdrawn a large chunk of cashespecially because as a Tarasov he could certainly afford itand lived off it until she was back on her feet. Why didnt you?

Because I did not want his money. I did not want anything from him. She shifted, grinding her teeth at the warble in her voice. It signified weakness, and that embarrassed her. Anyway, she said, sneaking in another common word Americans used regularly. How could I go home when I did not have enough money to buy an airline ticket, to rent an apartment once I got there, and to live until I found a job? I could not. So I stayed here where it had already become familiar. And Lekzi and I have done fine without him. Our life is simple, but that is all we need. She might not have two homes and a private jet, but despite having to save most of her earnings, she was providing for her daughter, and she was proud of that.

When they eventually turned onto her street, she tried not to think about what it would cost her, financially and emotionally, to start over again. Another new city, no friends, no job, no place to live. And it would be so much worse this time because she was dragging her innocent daughter along, making her baby suffer for the sins of her parents

The world stilled for a split second before Sacha felt the impact of her reality hit with the force of a punch.

A group of well-dressed men milled about in front of her apartment building. Two were on the sidewalk speaking with a uniformed NYPD officer while another two stood in front of the main entrance of the three-story walk-up.

Oh, God. I told you. Her whisper was eerily accepting. He has come for me.

The Girls by Emma Cline

Author                               Emma Cline
Publication Date              2 June 2016
Genre                                  Fiction Fantasy Novel

Girls—their vulnerability, strength, and passion to belong—are at the heart of this stunning first novel for readers of Jeffrey Eugenides’ The Virgin Suicides and Jennifer Egan’s A Visit from the Goon Squad.
Northern California, during the violent end of the 1960s. At the start of summer, a lonely and thoughtful teenager, Evie Boyd, sees a group of girls in the park, and is immediately caught by their freedom, their careless dress, their dangerous aura of abandon. Soon, Evie is in thrall to Suzanne, a mesmerizing older girl, and is drawn into the circle of a soon-to-be infamous cult and the man who is its charismatic leader. Hidden in the hills, their sprawling ranch is eerie and run down, but to Evie, it is exotic, thrilling, charged—a place where she feels desperate to be accepted. As she spends more time away from her mother and the rhythms of her daily life, and as her obsession with Suzanne intensifies, Evie does not realize she is coming closer and closer to unthinkable violence, and to that moment in a girl’s life when everything can go horribly wrong.
Emma Cline’s remarkable debut novel is gorgeously written and spellbinding, with razor-sharp precision and startling psychological insight. The Girls is a brilliant work of fiction—and an indelible portrait of girls, and of the women they become.

This is based on the cult led by Charles Mason who preyed on the young, rich and vulnerable. It's narrated in the point of view of Evie, alternating between the present day and 1969.

Evie is middle aged. She is house sitting for a friend when she is visited by a young couple. This takes her back to when she was fourteen years old in 1969. Her mother and father separated and she was left to do pretty much what she wanted. She spent most of her time with her best friend until she was made to feel unwanted.

She came across Suzanne and developed a fascination for her. Suzanne appeared to be so carefree that she wanted to be like her. She did a favour for Suzanne and she they became friends. She was introduced to Russell, the leader of the camp and in her naivity she felt a sense of belonging. She didn't feel so alone when in the company of Suzanne and some of the other girls. She became obsessed with Suzanne and would do anything to make her happy. This is where her behaviour started to change and she started doing things that she would have never dreamt of. Little did she know what she was really getting herself involved in. She overlooked everything because she felt wanted and important. She was always justifying Russell's and Suzanne's behaviour.

Even now Evie is still thinking about what happened during her time at the camp. She can't forget about the gruesome facts which took place in 1969.

The story is very well narrated and it gets into the psyche of the young girl who wanted nothing more but to feel a sense of belonging. It emphasises on the sick power that Russell held over his followers who worshipped in. I found Evie's behaviour when she was a young girl and the woman that she has become to be static. It feels like she still hasn't found her identity. Is it the psychological impact of the time she spent at the camp?

To Love a Libertine by Liana Lefey

Author                            Liana Lefey
Publication Date           30 May 2016
Genre                               Historical Fiction Romance

London, 1727

When Miss Eden Lowther catches the eye of Lord Percival Falloure, Marquess of Tavistoke, she’s delighted, for his wicked lordship is anything but boring. The canny coquette who declined five suitors the season prior sets out to capture the infamous “Terror of the Ton” for keeps, but the man she finds behind the fa├žade isn’t at all what she expects.

Having suffered heartbreak and humiliation two years ago, Lord Tavistoke is wary of love. But once on the market, always on the market until wed or dead. Desperate to throw London’s single ladies off the scent, Percy looks to reestablish his rotten reputation with a rousing scandal. His mark: Miss Eden Lowther, a tearing beauty reported to have left devastation in her wake last Season. If anyone has asked for ruination, it is the heartless “Hellion of Holker Hall”…

Eden and Percy soon find themselves falling dangerously in love, despite their fears and her family’s objections. But will love alone save them when a ruthless rival forces her hand?

It's the Seasons 1727 in London, where all the elites gather in the ballrooms. The ladies put on their best attires with the aim of catching the eyes of a prospective husband. Gossips are ripe at these events.

Percival (Percy) is a Marquess. He used to have an unsavoury reputation up until two years ago when he had a heartbreak. He is the most eligible bachelor in town and is constantly pursued by the ladies. He comes up with the plan of going back to his old ways to get some reprieve from his pursuers.

Eden is very popular with the gentlemen. She has turned down several suitors in the past. She is not after money or a title. She wants the real thing. To find someone to love and who would love her in return.

Percy approaches Eden at the party thinking that she is the perfect target for what he has in mind. What he doesn't expect is for her to politely give him as good as she gets. She is attracted to him but feigns indifference. Percy finds himself thinking about her more than he should and pays her a visit under the pretense of owing her an apology. Catherine, Eden's mother does her best to keep them apart. She has someone else lined up for Eden but with her own agenda. Eden has no interest in Catherine's proposal but this woman is selfish and ruthless. She refuses to listen to Eden. Percy doesn't give up easily either.

As the story unfolds it becomes clear that Ravenhood, the intended has secrets and a liason with Eden could save his reputation or even his life. At the same time a young girl goes missing and Percy is doing his best to find her.

This is a complex plot with many twists along the way. There is prostitution. Corruption and jealousy. Blackmail and child slavery. When everything comes to light, it's quite shocking. The culprits are the least likely suspects. Percy has a side which he hides well. Not many knows about the good work that he does. Can Eden accept him as he is despite his shady past?

This story builds up slowly until it comes to a point when it becomes impossible to put the book down. It's beautifully written and the characters are very well developed. It shows how damaging gossips can be and that people can change by learning from their mistakes.

I was kindly issued with an advanced ecopy of this book from the publisher via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

As a romance author, I delight in crafting incendiary tales that capture the heart and the imagination, taking the reader out of the now and into another world. Regardless of whether you choose to dive into the past, leap into the future, or lose yourself in another realm entirely, between the pages you’ll find deep emotional journeys and passionate romance!
The splendor of the Georgian period (1714-1837) provides a lush, glittering backdrop for my sizzling historical romances. Between the pages of my early Georgian pieces you’ll find sensuous lovers, lavish royal courts, and deadly intrigues. My Regencies look back to an era of refined manners and strict propriety, while revealing the secret, wicked desires of its elegant ladies and courtly gentlemen. In my sci-fi romances, love transcends all boundaries and spans a future of endless possibility based on what we’re learning about our universe today. My fantasy romances will take you on a quest through realms both familiar and unknown, with characters and creatures from myth and folklore, and of course include powerful magic paired with that most potent of all enchantments: love.
About moi? I live in Central Texas with my dashing hero/husband of nearly twenty years and our beautiful daughter. I’m also privileged to serve (and it is most definitely servitude) one spoiled-rotten feline overlord. I adore chocolate and just about anything involving the words “salted caramel.” When my brain is too fried to weave stories, I read (of course), watch movies or binge-watch television series, make jewelry and knit scarves.
What do I read/watch? In addition to being a historical research junkie (there have been interventions), I’m a fan of all things sci-fi and fantasy. Star Wars is the first movie I remember seeing. I was five and watched a double feature of Episodes IV and V with my parents at the big theater downtown…and came out wanting to marry Han Solo. Fed on bedtime stories from authors like Tolkien, Baum, and Herbert, I became a language-loving, book-gobbling monster at the age of four and have yet to be sated. The Kadin by Bertrice Small was the first romance novel I ever devoured. I was fourteen, it was delicious, and I’m now thrilled to be writing romance for fellow enthusiasts.

James Mac Maccaris career in the mafia is at a standstill. As the best solider in his Capos crew, all he wants is to be noticed enough to get Made in the Pivetti Crime Family. But instead, his Capos interests seem more focused on keeping his solider hidden from the boss, and every other Made man he can. Seemingly stuck right where he is with no chance of going up, Mac doesnt know what will finally get him the attention he needs to earn his button.

Until she shows up and all eyes are on them.

Melina Morgan survivesthats just what she does. Shes never been able to depend on anyone but herself to keep her safe and get things done. When a chance encounter puts her in a bad situation with the cops and the mafia, Melina has no choice but to put her faith in the hands of a man that not only infuriates her with his cocky arrogance, but catches her interest, too. Playing pretend in a fake relationship with Mac doesnt seem all that terrible, until pretend turns real and bullets start to fly.

A man is nothing without his woman.

When the attention on Mac and Melina turns from bad to worse, and someone in the Pivetti Crime Family decides the couple needs to go, they know theyre fighting an uphill battle alone. But making it to the end alive means Mac could get what hes always wanted, and Melina might find what she didnt even know she needed.

Together, theyll make waves the mafia has no choice but to notice.

I can't say that I have always been a fan of mafia novels but Bethany-Kris soon changed that for me. I have been hooked since I read The Marcellos and The Chicago War. I haven't read anything by Erin Ashley Tanner until now and I am blown away. A dynamic duo!

Melina is an escort, not a prostitute as many assume. She has learned to rely on herself due to her circumstances. She doesn’t have any friends and doesn't socialise outside of her work.

Mac is a hard working soldier in the mob. He takes care of his mother and sister for the lack of his father's presence. Someone who he is not very fond of. He is aiming to get a higher position in the organisation but it would appear that someone wants to keep him exactly where he is.

Melina attends a cage fight one evening and Mac being one of the fighters is instantly attracted to her. Rather unusual for him. Then Melina decides to take her employer's advice and goes to a night club to enjoy herself. It just happens that she is there at the wrong time. She not only draws the mob's attention but the authorities' as well. Now she has to stay close to Mac, pretending to be his girlfriend. They soon discover that there is more to this pretense. The chemistry between them undeniable and they become passionate about each other. Melani has to put up with some racist comments from members of the mob because she is black. Mac is behind her all the way. He sees the person not the colour of her skin!

There is an attempt on their lives but who is the target? Mac or Melani? Who is behind it and why?

Melani makes a bad decision and finds herself in serious trouble. This complicates matters and the situation is pretty desperate. I was entranced by this story from beginning to end. Mac and Melani are fascinating characters and the storyline is complex but easy to read. The ending brings a lot of questions. What happens next? I do hope that everything works out for Mac and Melani. They deserve the happiness that they can bring to each other.
