Seraphina (The Complete Series) Sheena Hutchinson - Blog Tour

Seraphina’s Awakening
Sheena Hutchinson
(Seraphina #1)
Publication date: September 1st 2016
Genres: New Adult, Paranormal, Romance

For as long as she can remember, Seraphina Cross has experienced these visions that made her feel like there was more to life. It wasn’t until one moment, one accident that her life changed forever.

She awakens the next day a new person in more ways than one. With no recollection of past night’s events, she’s forced to adapt to certain sensations she is experiencing all while trying to piece together what exactly happened to her that fateful night. Her strange, hectic life doesn’t seem to make sense until she meets a handsome stranger. Only then does the puzzle finally piece itself together.

What she doesn’t expect is the new powers she has developed attracting all kinds of unwanted attention. Thrown into a world she never truly believed existed she is forced to come to grips with who she is becoming while staying out of trouble long enough to figure out what needs to be done to fulfill her destiny.

Seraphina’s Initiation

Something happened. I can feel it, the evil. His senses are overwhelming right now as he dashes out of the shop. He doesn’t care what Sera said; he can’t just let her blow him off like that. He loves her. He wishes he didn’t, he wishes it was someone else. But unfortunately, Sera is all his mind can think about day and night.

He’s running down the street in the pouring rain, but he’s determined to figure out what is going on around here. She must care about him. She came to him! On some level she has feelings for him, too. Maybe if she can see how much Jack’s willing to go through to protect her, if she can only see what he would do for her, then she will realize she made the wrong choice.

Jack is getting closer. He can feel it; the evil. It’s all over this place. Well, that’s different – Mr. Green’s Supermarket. He pauses before rounding the corner toward the entrance. Deep down he’s hoping that whatever was here is gone. If having the sight has taught him anything, it is not to be afraid of the unknown. He just hopes that whatever it is will see him as one of their own and mean him no harm. It’s his only hope as he turns the corner.

Correction, it was his only hope. Looking at the sight in front of him, all Jack’s hopes and endless dreams have just been washed down the sewer with the rain. She’s standing there, her arms wrapped around him with her hands on his face, kissing him like the barista has always dreamed about.

He must be in shock. He can’t seem to move a muscle. Maybe he’s a masochist because he continues to just stare at them flat out making out as if they were in some corny movie right there in the supermarket parking lot. How could she do this to me? Right here? Flaunt her choice right here out in the open for all to see? The anger grows inside of him. It ignites something in him and it begins to spread its way through his veins and envelopes his entire body. His heart turns cold as stone before finally turning and walks back toward the coffee shop.

She will regret this – she will see she made the wrong choice. Jack wants here to feel like he does right now in this very moment. Yet, there is something inside of him that doesn’t want to give up one her. He’d still do anything to have her. Anything. Maybe, it’s time he places a call. One he had been avoiding. It’s time he has her.

Library Journal raves the Sins Series is “…dark, seductive, and sexy as sin.” For readers who love paranormal romance and urban fantasy.

Dagan Krayl, the Underworld’s most powerful soul reaper, is the demigod son of the evil god Sutekh. He’s on a mission to find his murdered brother’s remains and resurrect him, but resurrection means that the secrets carried into death would be released and, with them, a war that could end gods and mankind alike.

Roxy Tam is searching for the same thing, but for completely different reasons. She means to make certain that the remains don’t fall into Sutekh’s hands, and that the soul reapers do not reanimate their fallen comrade. As a Daughter of Aset, Roxy is tasked with the protection of the human race, and if that means thwarting an all powerful soul reaper and making certain his dead brother stays dead, so be it. But when Roxy sees Dagan face-to-face, she realizes that she has met him once before—a meeting that changed her life forever.

Neither Dagan nor Roxy expects to join forces for the sake of mankind. Or to have their loyalties tested as they struggle against treachery, betrayal and the potent desire that threatens to consume them both.

Breaking Roman by Alexis James - Review Tour

Breaking Roman
Alexis James
(The Moran Family #3)
Publication date: June 27th 2017
Genres: Adult, Contemporary,

They call me Romeo.

I love romancing women, and I’m good at it.

Too bad it is all a ruse.

Roman, the youngest of the three Moran brothers, is the only one who has ever believed in true love. Too bad his one special person barely acknowledges his existence.

Sabrina Morris spends her days running the HR Department of The Moran Group, and her nights corralling her teenage daughter. She doesn’t have time for love. She’s heard the stories, but Roman is not at all what she expects him to be. His gentle nature catches her completely off-guard. She doesn’t expect to be attracted to him, and she certainly doesn’t expect him to be equally drawn to her. But can she see past his Romeo faΓ§ade and allow the warm, loving man into her life?

3 Stars
🌟 🌟 🌟

Breaking Roman is quite an appropriate title for this short novel and it has left me with mixed feelings.

Roman comes from a large and close knit family. He is known for playing the field but, he is now committed to the one woman.

Sabrina is the lone parent to a sixteen year old daughter, Emmy. She works for Roman's family business and her main priority is her daughter.

Roman and Sabrina embarks on a passionate affair with good prospects for the future. Everything is going swimmingly until Will, her ex turns up out of the blues. This is where everything goes downhill. Sabrina professes that her daughter comes before everything else but her behaviour proves otherwise. She claims that she is acting out of guilt! For what? For someone who is supposed to be so strong and dedicated, she ignores her daughter's feelings! The way she treats Roman is appaling. She is good at playing the victim and ignoring the feelings of others. Emmy is a sensible and determined girl who has more common sense than her mother.

When Sabrina confides in Roman's brother who launches an investigation, the truth about her ex comes to light. I can't say that I like anything about her because of the way she behaves towards Roman and Emmy. Roman is generous, forgiving and treats Emmy like his own.

This is a quick read where everything happens a little too fast and too easy. I was kindly issued with an eARC and the views expressed are my personal opinion.

After, he vowed to never love again and put all of his energy into defending New Orleans from the evil Voodoo priestess out to destroy everything he held dear. Now, he thinks of nothing but her, and despite the dangers surrounding his family, he can’t help but alter his plans to make sure she stays safe. At all costs.

Now, honed and hardened to be the weapon she knows she can be, she has no time for lust and love in her life. Unfortunately, a certain sexy-as-sin werewolf occupies her thoughts—and her heart—day in and day out. Minka knows that the survival of many is always more important than the safety of one, and she is more than willing to sacrifice herself so that those she loves remain untouched. But Solomon is having none of that and reminds her that there is no force as strong as the magic between them.

4 Stars
🌟 🌟 🌟 🌟

I haven't read the previous books in this series and I wish that I had. Although, there are some clues in certain areas of the story, I feel that I have missed a big chunk of the whole picture. It's an interesting storyline.

Solomon is the alpha of the LaRue pack. He runs a restaurant with his family, and they are all responsible for the peace and safety of the paranormal world in New Orleans since they lost their parents to Delphine, an evil and powerful voodoo priestess. He suffered another loss seven years ago and has been avoiding getting involved with anyone, until now!

Minka is a witch, currently living in isolation after being threatened by the same evil priestess who is after her powers. She is friendly with the Larues but, keeps them at bay as any friends of hers are in danger too. Griffin, the alpha of the Moonstone pack keeps an eye on her. Her heart really lies with Solomon who appears to dislike her.

It's been six months since Minka managed to escape from Delpnine's claws and she knows that she is not completely out of the woods! The LaRues have her in high esteem, except apparently for Solomon. He is coaxed into paying her a visit which leads to a confrontation with Griffin. Alpha to alpha. Coincidentally, Minka has a vision on the same day. Her visions always come true! She contacts both packs to tell them about this vision and the LaRues persaude her to accompany them. For a break from being on her own!

She ends up staying with Solomon and although they initially come to blows, she sees a different side to him. His behaviour towards her in the past was denial! He can't resist the attraction towards her any longer and the bond between them is stronger than imagined.

In the meantime, Delphine is still plotting their demise and gives Minka an alternative. Everyone knows that she can't be trusted but, Minka is not prepared to put her friends in danger and Solomon doesn't want to lose her. There is a traitor among them but, he has his own reasons for betraying them.

Minka is powerful and compassionate. Solomon is loyal and loves without reservations. The family dynamics is commendable. A battle is inevitable and what transpires is very likely the beginning of another intriguing story. It's a great concept but, it's advisable to read the previous books in the series.

I was kindly issued with an eARC and the views expressed are my personal opinion.

Was it worse to want someone you couldn’t have? Or to never know that kind of longing?

Minka wasn’t sure which was more awful. She knew that no matter how much she hungered for Solomon’s touch or craved his attention, that she would never be his. That kind of knowledge did strange things to a person.

Her heart had jumped in her throat to find him there. It had felt like forever since she’d seen his face and those brilliant blue eyes. All the LaRues and Chiassons had them, but Solomon’s were brighter than the others’.
And his hair. The dark blond strands were laced with pale brown that made her want to sink her hands into the locks.

His face was all hard angles and ruggedness that she longed to touch and kiss. The shadow of dark whiskers on his jaw made her stomach flutter and her skin prickle with awareness.

Then there was that body of his. Could anyone wear jeans like Solomon? The denim clung to his trim waist and hips, curving over his fine ass before encasing his long legs. Though it was his ability to wear a plain white shirt over the impeccably hard sinew of his chest and wide shoulders that could make her heart miss a beat.

He was simply mouth-watering. The complete package...and utterly out of reach.

He’s thought of her constantly in the years she’s been gone, but nothing prepared him for the woman she has become. Although angry at her for leaving him, Corbin isn’t able to dismiss his need for her.

But Corbin and Quinn are running out of time for a meaningful reunion, the real evil is back and hunting the prey that escaped them all those years ago.

Are you a book reviewer?

Quinn had a special book, a book that had been with her since she was a teenager. This was the notebook that she kept all of her dream drawings in. Sometimes she would add words to the sketches and sometimes she wouldn’t. There were hundreds of drawings in this book, some the size of a quarter, and some – after a particular bad night of dreaming – took up an entire page of hard angry charcoal strokes.

That book was private, and Quinn kept it to herself. That was just for her. For so long she hadn’t been able to tell what was real and what was fantasy, thinking maybe she herself was just a figment of someone else’s imagination. Her sketchbook was Quinn’s way of knowing she was real. Maybe she had imagined seeing the things she saw, or knowing the things that she had forgotten, but she hadn’t fabricated drawing the pictures or writing the words. The pictures and words would always be there, permanently tattooed into the book. If she opened the pages and saw those things then she would know that in that very moment, she was present. She existed. She was.

This is the final chapter of Tell Me You Want Me as told by the cast of characters Leon, Bridgette, Gina and Sebastian.

Set in the music world of the late eighties, Gina Kelly and Leon Turner take off for Greece after a tumultuous tour with Tin Garden. Leon leaves Gina at the Acropolis to contemplate her life and soul mission.

Is there a surprise waiting for Gina. Is it Sebastian? Things are not always as they seem in the world of rock and roll when Tin Garden are not on stage. Sebastian makes amends to clean-up his act as he moves out of the spotlight and into rehab and we start to wonder if his brother Rick has been the driving force of Sebastian’s problems all along. Gina leaves her singing career behind for motherhood, when Sebastian wants to have one last party before making a huge decision that will have a profound impact on his future with Tin Garden.

The author gives a final non-fiction version at the end into her personal journey in writing when the antagonist Sebastian, manifested into the authors personal life after her first book was published. Embrey shares her writing journey of Tell Me You Want Me, when the book took on a life of it’s own, and leaves one to wonder the age old question; does art imitate life, or does life imitate art.

The Book of Leon

NBC Studios, New York, August 12, 1988

Leon Taylor interview, already in progress.

Interviewer: You were on the infamous ‘Wait (Wait till I’m Home) Tour.’ Is that correct?

Leon: Yes, I was.

Interviewer: It was rumored that the tour was plagued with drug problems.

Leon: (laughing) I never heard that rumor.

Interviewer: Sebastian Roland has a reputation with issues related to drugs like heroin. Can you comment on that?

Leon: Heroin? No, I’ve never seen him or anyone do smack … okay?

I should’ve had the sense to decline the interview. I wasn’t expecting to be asked about drug use during a tour that happened over two years ago. I disconnected from the interviewer when I got hit with that last ignorant-ass question, which caused my mind to go back to that crazy tour and what followed after Gina and I left it.

It was November 17, 1986, when I started unpacking from the move into Gina’s and my new apartment. I had just pulled the last of the kitchen nonsense out from a box when the phone rang.

“Leon, hey, it’s Walter. Listen to this … you’ll never believe who I just got off the phone with,” he said with excitement.

“Who?” I asked, preoccupied.

“Guess who’s still lighting matches to Gina torch?” Walter said, laughing.

“Are you serious?” I replied, surprised. I knew who Walter was referring to and started whispering over the phone because Gina was sitting on the other side of the room.

“Sebastian tried calling you at your old number. He told me he’d made a big mistake. Can you believe that?” Walter said.

“He’s a damn mess,” I replied, rolling my eyes.

Walter proceeded to enlighten me on his conversation with Sebastian. I knew that man had called Bridgette’s place several times looking for Gina only because B had been bitching to me nonstop about it.

Sebastian probably assumed that if he called the Christopher apartment enough times, Gina would answer the phone.

Bridgette had finally had enough and had told Sebastian in a more animated way to go kick rocks and stop calling. Sebastian must have finally given up on Bridgette and figured that, since he used to hit Walter up for drugs back in the day, they were tight enough for Walter to give him info about where Gina was staying now.

Walter didn’t give Sebastian the information he was digging for; instead, Walter called me and asked, “What do you want to do about it?” Thinking about his question and looking over at Gina, who was staring off into space and looking out the window, I told Walter to give me Sebastian’s number. I’m the one who decided to make the call to Sebastian.

I was really mad at Sebastian for what he’d done to Gina at that video shoot, not to mention the other things I had heard about on tour that had been kept from Gina. It was fair to say that Sebastian auditioned his tool in anything that had an opening, if you get my meaning. He was a damn mess with it. I’m being real with you. I didn’t want to be part of their love shit; it was exhausting. But she was hurting and still in love with his dumb ass, so I had to do something.

Gina had put on her coat and was heading over to Bridgette’s for the day. “See you later,” she said somberly. I was still on the phone with Walter.

After she left, I picked up the phone and placed the call to Sebastian. I will admit, I was curious myself about what had happened with him after the tour ended.

Looking at his number, which I had scribbled on the side of a moving box, I thought about what I was going to say to his ass. I dialed the operator to place a London call, collect of course.

“This is the United States operator. Collect call from the makeup lady to Mr. SoBo Roland. Will you accept the charges?” the operator said when Sebastian answered.

“Makeup lady? Leon? Yeah, I’ll accept,” Sebastian answered back.

“Go ahead makeup lady,” the operator answered back.

“Hello, Sebastian” I said after some hesitation when he was switched over. He seemed a bit surprised to hear my voice on the other end.

“Where is she, Leon?” Sebastian asked impatiently, and he spent the first few minutes of our conversation pushing on me how to reach Gina and droning on about how he missed her.

“She’s around … busy, but she’s around,” I replied, ignoring his tale of woe. I glanced out the window to see that heavy snow had started falling. I was personally anticipating some warmer weather in Europe, so as I watched the snow, I began thinking about whether I should pack a speedo to take to Greece.

“I fucked up, Leon. I’m coming to New York for Christmas to see her,” he said.

He was still going on about how sorry he was for what he did to Gina when, without thinking, I let the cat out of the bag, interrupting to let him know that Gina and I were headed to Greece for Christmas.

“Really?” Sebastian said. He paused and then started to regale me with some foolishness about how he was going to meet us there and ask Gina to marry him. I thought he was crazy until he said, “Keep it a secret from her.”

This fucking man. I had to keep that info tight for three weeks. He wanted me to get Gina to the Acropolis the day we landed. He knew she’d always wanted to go there, so that was where he was going to ask her to marry his dumb ass, but he needed my help.

After I hung up with Sebastian, I called Walter back and told him about our little conversation and Sebastian’s plan to meet us in Greece.

“That’s romantic,” he said.

Of course he would think some mess like that, because he was living a straight life now. Walter was a yester-gay (yesterday gay) with a baby on the way. I rolled my eyes. Walter didn’t have to live with Gina or Sebastian’s secret. I did. I was edged off at Walter for getting me involved in this foolishness.

Humanity's Hope - Pembroke Sinclair

Author                       Pembroke Sinclair
Publication Date     To be confirmed
Genre                        Young Adult Fiction

Caleb, a 17-year-old boy, survived the zombie uprising, but he didn’t come out of the ordeal unscathed. He’s been scarred—both mentally and physically. The rest of humanity is trying to rebuild, to make the world normal again. Caleb is trying to return to a normal life also, but after all he’s seen, after the loss of his family and friends, the transition is difficult. The darkness that led him down a path of self-doubt and self-harm keeps trying to creep back into his mind.

Things only become worse when he discovers he’s immune to whatever makes a zombie a zombie. Fighting zombies was predictable. He knew what to expect. Fighting humans is volatile. They are malicious and treacherous. They won’t stop to get what they want, and Caleb has to figure out exactly what that is.

*Trigger warning: attempted suicide*

The conspiracy theory behind this zombie story is very interesting. There are two different types of zombies. The BZs and the RBZs which makes for a good concept.
Caleb is a seventeen year old orphan who is a computer whiz working for Zemtech, a research organisation. There has been a zombie uprising which has left him seriously traumatised. After everything that he has been through, he no longer allows anyone to get close to him. He is a loner!

He is fairly settled in his routine until he receives an email which changes everything. Samuel, his work colleague tries to be supportive but Caleb would much rather deal with the situation by himself. He is constantly on the run. It's bad enough being chased by zombies and now he doesn't know who he can trust. He has something that others want and would stop at nothing to get it. He is baffled when he discovers why he is so much in demand and decides to unravel this mystery. This takes him on a long and dangerous road.

His state of mind causes him to have some upsetting flashbacks. He is forever having internal battles within himself as a result of what has happened in the past.

It's an interesting concept but there are some gaps in the story. For example, why doesn't he pay more interest to the flash drive that is handed to him by Matt? Granted, he has been through a lot but in my opinion this constant internal battle interferes with the flow of the story. The twist at the end is like a bomb has been dropped! Didn't see that one coming. It's beautifully done but ends rather abruptly.

I received a complimentary eARC and the views expressed are my personal opinion.

When I first started writing, my goal was to be classified as a sci fi/fantasy writer.  But as I honed my skills and found my writing style, I found that I enjoyed writing in several different genres.  Now, I write an eclectic mix of fiction ranging from Westerns to horror to sci fi to fantasy.

The first story I had published was based on one of my spouse's guiding adventures.  After that, things just fell into place.  I've had several short stories published in several different places, and I have two novels, with a third on they way, and I recently signed a contract for my fourth.  One of my short stories, Sohei, was even voted as a "Best of 2008" story by the Cynic Online

I also write nonfiction, which I publish under my real name.  My first dabbling in nonfiction was when I wrote my thesis for my Master's in English.  I never really got into it.  I tried to get a couple of articles published, but no one wanted to read about slasher films, so I put them away.

My father-in-law hooked me up with a gig writing for an agricultural magazine, Western Farmer-Stockman.  I knew very little about agriculture (still don't, really), but with a little research, you can become an expert in anything!  I emailed the editor, and he took me on without looking at a resume or a writing sample.  It was flabbergasting.  Luckily for both of us, it worked out.  After 3 years, I stopped writing agricultural articles. They became incredibly time consuming and tedious. I wanted to spend that time working on fiction and not looking for another person to interview.  But the experience I gained was priceless.  I'm glad I had the opportunity to work for Western Farmer-Stockman.

I was also a staff writer for a magazine that focuses on serial killers.  I fell into that.  My goal was to send in one article and leave it at that, but the editor liked my writing style so much, he asked me to produce more articles.  I was also lucky enough to write the articles for the calendar they put out.  I had several other articles published by them, but, like the agricultural articles, they were time consuming and not what I wanted to focus on.

My biggest nonfiction project to date is developing my thesis into a book.  That has been interesting.  That is still an ongoing saga...

Eventually, I finished turning my thesis into a book and found a publishing company who was willing to print it, Scarecrow Press. It was released in June 2012.  For more information about my stories, please check out the "Short Stories" tab and the "Novels, Novellas, and Nonfiction" tab.
