Audrey Taylor has carved a living out of society’s fringes using her supernatural abilities and street smarts. Freedom—sleeping beneath the open skies and under the radar—is all she’s ever needed. But when an ancient council of witches discovers her powers, Audrey must submit to their training or be stripped of her gifts and her memory. Audrey knows better than to trust anyone, and she’s never worked well with others, so it’s just her luck to be assigned a withdrawn and irritable falconer as her mentor. Even more disturbing is her desire to tear through his brooding faΓ§ade and bare the man beneath when she should be focused on escape.

Corvin Wright values the solace of his duties and only finds peace among the birds entrusted to his keeping. But the council no longer sees a use for his unique gifts, and his sanctuary is in danger unless he can earn his place by babysitting a fledgling witch. The task becomes daunting when his apprentice turns out to be wilder and more broken than any creature he’s ever cared for. Her fiery spirit and dangerous beauty challenge every ideal of the life he’s built. As Audrey wrestles with her captivity and the bonds of responsibility laid upon her, Corvin must find a way to tame her wild heart before she breaks his.

To Tame a Wild Heart is the introduction to the Zyne Legacy. The Zynes are witches, living in their own community to preserve their legacy. They are assisted by immortals, such as shifters and the hohlwen, fallen angels. The sorceres prey on the unprotected witches to use their powers for their dark purposes.

Corvin is an empath and the son of the coven's oracle. He likes his solitude and thrives on being by himself, at one with nature. He cares for the birds in the sanctuary with his best friend, Smoke, an inquistive and faithful raven! He also gets on well with his mentor, Roderic.

Audrey has grown up in foster homes and doesn't trust anyone. She has some powerful magical powers and although she is untrained, she uses these powers to fend for herself.

Audrey is in an asylum and has planned her escape meticulously. Only to escape one prison, straight into another. Well, not quite a prison! The Zyne community. She doesn't like being told what to do, but her objections are futile. Train to master her powers or lose them completely.

Corvin's mother has decided that it's about time that he leaves the bird santuary and help to train the fresh initiates. Joy of joys, Audrey is allocated to him! He has zero social skills and dealing with Audrey is not going to be easy. She is wild at heart! Even then, he is drawn to her. His emphatic abilities give him a glimpse of what lies beneath her tough exterior. He is a wounded soul too, and can relate to her apprehensions. If only, she would open up to him. First, he has to learn to open up too!

The more they get to know each other, the closer they become and the sexual tension between them becomes increasingly hard to ignore. Audrey lands herself in all sorts of trouble, but Corvin is sympathetic to her behaviour. The other thing is, she has made a promise and she intends to keep that promise. To be able to do that, she has to escape the surrounding wards. She makes a pact to someone who might just be able to help her. It's also forbidden! This is where she discovers that the sorceres are evil and witches are their slaves!

There are twists and turns throughout the whole story. Corvin is betrayed and at the same time he receives the biggest revelation of his life. Audrey discovers her origin. The story is well paced and well balanced. The relationship between Corvin and Audrey is interesting, but soul lifting. I like the whole concept of this story and would very much like to see more. I am intrigued by Seprhael! A very enjoyable storyline that I would recommend to lovers of the supernatural.

I have was kindly issued with an eARC and the views expressed are my personal opinion.
