Naz & Roz (#5 Cross + Catherine) Bethany-Kris

Author
Bethany-Kris

Publication Date
10 September 2018

Genre
New Adult
 Contemporary Romance

The genius and the prodigy ...

Nazio “Naz” Donati is brilliant, sinful, and criminal. A genius from the moment he was born, and a man who's still trying to learn how to navigate and balance this thing called life. He certainly wasn't expecting love to practically fall right into his hands, never mind for love to take the form of his best friend's little sister.

Rosalynn ”Roz” Puzza is talented, beautiful, and driven. A pianist prodigy from the second they sat her at a piano as a little girl, and a young woman who isn't sure if she's truly earned her spot on the stage. She wasn't expecting a man like him to take her focus and change her muse, never mind to distract her from the thing she thought she wanted the most.

Sometimes, first love is intense.
All-consuming.
Crazy.
And you just have to ride it out.

When brilliance and talent crash together, it can make magic.

Naz & Roz is a contemporary romance that is meant to be read as an add-on to the Cross + Catherine series, and is not intended to be read as a standalone.

⭐🌟⭐🌟⭐

An amazing finish to the Cross + Catherine series. It's a well rounded novella about finding "the one" and coming to terms with new feelings!

Naz, son of darling Cross Donati is a chip off the old block with very little to separate them. Naz is a born genius.

Ros is a pianist prodigy, daughter to Cross' best friend Zeke, and sister to Luca, Naz's best friend.

Although Naz and Ros have known each other from an early age, lightning doesn't strike until they are teenagers. It's instant love when they meet at a family event. They form an incredible bond whilst struggling with their new found feelings. They don't have much time to explore as Naz's work takes him all over the place and Ros is under pressure with her life long ambition of becoming a recognised pianist. Can they find a balance to meet their commitments and keep their beautiful relationship?

This short story is very well portrayed with a solid and intense plot. Despite their young age, Naz and Ros show common sense and are sensible about their decisions. Best of all is Naz's understanding and support. An adorable love story which ends beautifully.

Saying goodbye to Cross and Catherine is rather emotional, but hopefully there will be more of the Donatis' next generation with maybe a glimpse of Cross and Catherine thrown in!

He kisses me, a quick brush of lips over lips. “I need you naked. I need to feel you next to me.” He rolls me to my back and with that “for now” in the air, he moves and resettles with his lips to my stomach and this is not an accidental connection. My heart squeezes with the certainty that he’s reminding me of how many times he told me he wanted a little girl just like me. It affects me. We had so many plans. We were best friends. We were so many things that happened so very quickly and easily, and then it was gone.

He pulls down my pants, and all too quickly my sneakers and everything else are gone. I’m naked and not just my body. I am so very naked with this man and always have been. But as for my body, I’m not alone for long. He strips away his clothes, and I lift to my elbows to admire all that sinewy, perfect muscle before he reaches down, grabs my legs and pulls me to him. The minute my backside is on the edge of the bed, he goes down on a knee. I sit up and cup his face. “Not now. Now I need—I need—”

He cups my head and pulls my mouth to his, kissing me with a long stroke of his tongue before he says, “And I need to taste you.”

“Not now. I’m not leaving. We have time. I need—you. Here with me.”

His eyes soften but he still leans in and licks my clit, and then suckles. I’m all but undone by the sensation because one thing I know and know well is how good this man is with his tongue. But he doesn’t ignore my request. He pushes off the floor, and in a heartbeat, he’s kissing me and I don’t even know how we end up in the center of the bed, our naked bodies entwined. We just are and it’s wonderful and right in ways nothing has been in so very long.

He lifts my leg to his thigh and presses his thick erection inside me, filling me in ways that go beyond our bodies; driving deep, his hand on my backside, pulling me into him, pushing into me, but then we don’t move. Then we just lay there, intimately connected, lost in the moment and each other. “Is this what you wanted?”

“Yes,” I say. “This is what I wanted.”

“I didn’t think I’d ever have you here, like this, with me again.”

“Me either,” I whisper, my fingers curling on his jaw. “Grayson,” I say for no reason other than I need his name on my lips. I need everything with this man.

He kisses me, a fast, deep, passionate kiss. “I missed the hell out of you, Mia. So fucking much. I don’t think you really understand how much.”

This moment, right here, right now, is one of our raw, honest, perfect moments that has always made his betrayal hard to accept. I need that honesty in my life and with him and I don’t even think about denying him my truth. “I missed you, too. More than you know, Grayson.”

He squeezes my backside and drives into me again. I pant with the sensations that rip through my body, my hand going to his shoulder. “Nothing was right without you,” he says. “Nothing, Mia.” He kisses me, and I sink into the connection, pressing into him, into his thrust, into the hard warmth of his entire body. Needing to be close. Needing the things that separated us not to exist.

Dirty Rich Betrayal is a fabulous read. It's about feeling betrayed. Jealousy really is a green eyed monster and love hurts!

Grayson is a billionaire bachelor with good ethics even though his biggest enemy is unscrupulous, but there are times when a stand is called for.

Mia has worked hard to prove herself as a successful criminal lawyer.

Grayson and Mia have been estranged for a year after falling deeply in love, then they were pulled apart. After stumbling upon something which could destroy Grayson and his empire, she sets off to warn him. The atmosphere between them is initially suffocating, despite the fact that their chemistry is still just as strong. Neither of them wants to go through the misery of heartbreak once again. Can they clear up any misunderstandings and tackle the important issue at hand?

The love between Grayson and Mia is something to behold. They go through some unpleasant and dangerous situations and would die for each other. The enemy's jealousy is so great that he would stop at nothing to destroy Grayson. This novel flows beautifully. The plot is very well thought through and the characters are very well portrayed. The presence of well loved characters from the previous series is an added bonus to this story. Absolutely loved it.

I was kindly issued with an eARC and the views expressed are my personal opinion.

Cross +Catherine #4 (The Companion) Bethany-Kris

Author
Bethany-Kris

Publication Date
14 May 2018

Genre
Mafia Romance

The crime boss and the hustling queen are back for one last goodbye …

Cross and Catherine watch as their kids grow up, and everything changes again. Life is still as busy as it ever was for these two, and their family.

Cece and Nazio are trying to figure this life thing out. From toddling babies to wedding bells, everything they’ve ever wanted is already at their fingertips.

Go behind the scenes and beyond the final chapter of the Cross + Catherine series in The Companion to find never-before-seen POVs, deleted scenes, future outtakes, and short stories—all requested by readers.

Each snapshot is written in short-story form, and meant to be enjoyed as individual pieces by the readers of the Cross + Catherine series. It is not standalone, and is not intended to be read as one.

🌟⭐🌟⭐🌟

Cross+Catherine are one of my favourite couples in BKs novels. I mean, a union between Marcello and Donati, what could be better?

This Companion is everything and more than I expected. The scenes that were not published in the initial story are enlightening and I couldn't help going back down memory lane.

Much have changed for Catherine and Cross, but one thing remains the same. Their indestructible love! They are parents to Cece and Nazio and it's fun watching the kids with their parents. I am sure that Cross realises that he is getting a dose of his own medicine from Nazio, but his love and pride are heartwarming. As for Cece, in Catherine's own words, she is her twin, only with less drama.

Reading about the Marcellos and the Donatis never gets old. This is very well portrayed and the scenes are so natural that they feel real. I absolutely love this Companion and the titbits about Nazio and Cece give a great overview of their upbringing and their characters. Kudos to Catherine and Cross!

Thanks BK for giving us those additional scenes. Smashing!

Dagger's Edge (#2 Brute Force) Lora Leigh

Author
Lora Leigh

Publication Date
28 August

Genre
Contemporary Romance

#1 bestselling author Lora Leigh is back--with a vengeance--in her latest novel of passion and intrigue, Dagger's Edge, featuring the men of Brute Force.

Ivan Resnova wants nothing more than to escape his hard, brutal past. Starting over is not so easy once you've been a powerful crime boss but now, instead of being punished for his alleged crimes, Ivan fears that the one woman he can't forget is in danger of paying the price.

Crimsyn "Syn" Delaney thought the danger she'd faced was over, and that she could resume her life. She never imagined it would return with a vengeance and throw her back into Ivan's world. But when an attempt is made on her life, she needs Ivan more than ever to keep her safe--even if she is in danger of falling deeply and dangerously in love. . .

4 Stars
🌟⭐🌟⭐

This second book of the Brute Force Series is a sensual, romantic suspense with a complex plot and forbidden love.

Ivan is alleged to be a cruel crime lord. He is loyal to his best friend and adores his daughter.

Crimsyn aka Syn comes from a "noble"family with a dark side. She has been brought up in isolation and a controlled environment.

Syn is being forced to marry someone of her father's choice and doesn't have any say in the matter. Her only way out is to escape. She receives help from her best friend and they are both abducted. She becomes aware that she has been betrayed in the worst possible way and that she is in a dangerous position. Whilst staying with her friend, Amara, she comes across Ivan, her teenage crush who is also her family's mortal enemy. Ivan has been admiring her from afar, but having suffered greatly at the hands of Syn's family from a young age, he seeks vengeance. Can he ignore the attraction between them and concentrate on his revenge or can he get the best of both worlds?

The revelations about Ivan's traumas and Syn's upbringing are soul destroying. They have both suffered at the hands of sick and depraved individuals. Their pasts dictate that a relationship between them would only create more chaos, but their hearts and souls won't be denied.

Ivan is a force to be reckoned with and when those he loves are in trouble, he would put his life on the line for them. He is charismatic and has a wicked sense of humour. I like the way Syn tackles her issues and adapts to her situations. This story shows that nothing is impossible and dreams do come true. A forbidden love turns into a beautiful fairy tale.

I am intrigued by Beau and hope that he tells his own story.

I was kindly issued with an eARC and the views expressed are my personal opinion.

Lora Leigh lives in the rolling hills of Kentucky, often found absorbing the ambience of this peaceful setting. She dreams in bright, vivid images of the characters intent on taking over her writing life, and fights a constant battle to put them on the hard drive of her computer before they can disappear as fast as they appeared. Lora’s family, and her writing life co-exist, if not in harmony, in relative peace with each other. Surrounded by a menagerie of pets, friends, and a teenage son who keeps her quick wit engaged, Lora’s life is filled with joys, aided by her fans whose hearts remind her daily why she writes.

Cowboy, Cross my Heart (#2 Heart of Texas) Donna Grant

Author
Donna Grant

Publication Date
28 August 2018

Genre
Contemporary Romance

New York Times bestselling author Donna Grant takes you deep inside the Texas rodeo scene, where danger and desire ride side by side. . .

Naomi Pierce isn't the type to let a cowboy sweep her off feet. It's not her first rodeo, after all. But when she returns to her Texas hometown, she can't help but be swept up again in the rough-and-tumble world of hard-riding, bronco-busting good-ol'-boys she loved as a girl. She might be here to photograph her Rodeo Queen best friend. But it's one fine-looking cowboy who really captures her eye...

Brice Harper is all man, all muscle, and all heart. From the moment he rides into the stadium, he can't help but notice the beautiful stranger with a camera watching him fromthe stands. It doesn't take a zoom lens to see the sparks of instant attraction. But things really heat up when he meets Naomi up-close--and he discovers that someone is stalking her friend. Brice wouldn't be any kind ofcowboy if he didn't offer to help the ladies out. But can the rough rider keep this spirited shutterbug out of danger--without risking his heart?

⭐🌟⭐🌟

This second installment of Heart of Texas is a romantic suspense novel with danger, intrigues and romance. It's an addictive read that had me glued to the pages.

Naomi left her hometown to persue a career in photography as well as getting away from the tragic loss of a close friend. During this visit to support her best friend, Whitney, a rodeo queen, noltalgy hits her and she realises how much she loves this life.

Brice played a big part in the previous book where he was a young lad, brother to Abby, the main character. He is now a man and a sight for sore eyes. He is looking to better his future despite the psychological scars left by his estranged mother.

When Brice notices Naomi taking pictures of the event, he is instantly drawn to her and there is something about him that calls to her. There is an attack on Naomi and Whitney that evening, and Brice comes to the rescue. None of them managed to see the face of the assailant, but it would appear that Whitney is keeping secrets. There is another attack on Brice and Naomi and knowing what the problem might be, Brice decides that he needs to protect Naomi. Whitney remains tight lipped, then there is a nasty accident which convinces everyone that they are in a dangerous situation. Can Brice keep Naomi safe and catch the guilty parties?

The mystery behind the brutal attacks makes for a compelling read. The interactions between Brice and his younger brother Caleb show their love for each other, even when they are in dispute. The obvious attraction between Brice and Naomi gets even stronger as the story develops. I absolutely love Abby and Clayton whose love is stronger than ever. Naomi's mother is one of those characters who brings fun and laughter in this otherwise dangerous story where those in power get away with murder! It's very well portrayed and the vivid descriptions of the places and events made me feel part of the whole thing. I would love to see Caleb, Jace and Cooper get their own stories.

I was kindly issued with an eARC and the views expressed are my personal opinion.

⭐🌟⭐🌟⭐

The he second part of this duet comes with a lot of surprises. It shows how far one would go to protect loved ones. It's a bit of a tear jerker with an amazing finish.

Josie is getting on with her project which has turned into a community event. Despite the ten year gap before her return to her hometown, one thing remains the same. Her first and only love.

Cole's business is doing extremely well and he is set to expand his empire even though he is not very well thought of.

After being torn apart by that dreadful accident, Josie and Cole are finding their way back to each other. Her sister is none too happy about the situation as she blames Cole for what happened on that fateful night. The rumours about him destroying their little town don't help matters and Cole accepts everything that's thrown at him. He lives for one thing only. Protecting Josie at all costs. Josie is still in the dark about what transpired after her parents' wedding anniversary, but she starts asking questions. She is puzzled about one missing item which has now resurfaced. She confronts Cole who is unable to lie to her. Will the truth send her running for the hills and ruin her beautiful relationship with Cole?

This finale stirs all kinds of emotions. It's beautifully portrayed and the emotions are palpable. The love between Cole and Josie proves that they are true soul mates. The well disguised twist is heartbreaking and heartwarming at the same time. I love the relationship between Cole and Josie and the ending makes up for all the anguish. It's an emotive, but delightful love story. I thoroughly enjoyed reading the whole thing.

I was kindly issued with an eARC and the views expressed are my personal opinion.

Excerpt

While I’ll take Josie wherever I can get her, I’d rather be with her at the cottage than anywhere else. Reminds me of our cramped apartment where we were always bumping into each other and never had enough room.

As both a girl and an artist, Josie came with stuff. Hair bands. Fuzzy socks. Premium pastels. A thousand tubes of lip balm. I loved her stuff because I loved her. But I’d also been baffled by her inability to hang up a sweatshirt.

Her cottage isn’t any neater, which is just one reason I like it there. She doesn’t answer my knock. I unlock the door and let myself in.

She’s sprawled on the bed in the sunroom, her body moving with quick, shallow breaths indicating a restless sleep. One shapely leg rests over a pillow, and her T-shirt is pulled up far enough to reveal the curve of her ass encased in panties printed with purple butterflies.

Much as I love the sight of her, I dislike like her insomnia, the way she sleeps in fits and starts. Though I haven’t seen evidence of a nightmare, that doesn’t mean she’s not still having them. And going back to the accident site…

My chest tightens. I sit in a chair by the window and rub a hand over the back of my neck.

Two weeks. That’s it. Then she’s gone. After that…hell, you don’t have to think about after. You just need to make sure the truth stays locked down. That means keeping her away from Peterson and any reminders.

Or taking her away.

A roll of half-opened Lifesavers rests on the windowsill. Peeling it open, I find a red one and stick it in my mouth. Sugar and cherry spill over my tongue.

“You’re going to pay for that.” Her sleep-husky voice draws my attention.

She’s watching me, her arms around a pillow.

“I’ll share.” I push to my feet.

“You’d better.”

After crossing the room in three strides, I sink onto the bed beside her and lower my mouth to hers. Though I had every intention of talking to her first, her kiss fires me with heat. The tension in my chest loosens. I brush her silky hair back from her face and slide my hand over her cheek. Breathe in her strawberry smell. My unease slides away, overpowered by her soft sweetness.

She flicks her tongue into my mouth and over the cherry candy. After passing it to her, I lower her back onto the bed. My dick is already getting hard. I cup her breasts and rub my thumbs over her nipples, urging them to tighten. Josie sighs and shifts, hooking her legs around my thighs and wiggling her hips against me.

“You need to stop wearing jeans when you’re here.” She pushes me away and rises up to unbutton my jeans and shove them off. “Makes it hard for this spontaneous sex thing we’ve got going on.”

“I’m always hard for this spontaneous sex thing.” I shed my clothes before climbing on top of her again. Nuzzling my nose into her neck, I lick the hot hollow of her throat. I fucking love that tender little spot where her pulse beats so fast.
