Moonlight Sins (#1 De Vincent) Jennifer Armentrout

Jennifer Armentrout

Publication Date
30 January 2018
Mystery Romance

New York Times bestselling author Jennifer L. Armentrout delivers the unforgettable story of a woman whose new life has just begun—but may end in murder...

Julia Hughes has always played it safe until she learned a very painful lesson. Now Julia’s starting over with a job in the Louisiana bayou—and a scorching encounter with a stranger, only to discover he’s Lucian de Vincent... her new employer. The de Vincent brothers share a massive fortune and a dark reputation. Julia cares for their troubled sister, but a menacing presence in the mansion—and the ever-present temptation of Lucian—prove dangerously distracting.

Lucian’s grandmother claimed de Vincent men fall in love once—and hard. Apparently, it’s Lucian’s turn. Julia’s compassionate care of his twin makes Lucian want to lay himself bare. But some secrets are better for Julia not to know.

The recent “suicide” of Lucian’s father is the latest in a string of deaths on the estate. Someone is eliminating the de Vincents. And the best way to get to Lucian may be through Julia...

4 Stars

This book builds up slowly, but it's a fascinating and unusual story. The mystery surrounding the main characters makes for a compulsive read.

Lucian is a prominent figure in society, and although he attracts women's attention, he doesn't do relationships. He is charismatic, but there is a darkness surrounding his family, which makes the story even more compulsive and intriguing.

Lucia is a nurse who has a tendency of over thinking every situation in her life. Her failed marriage has left her with little or no confidence in men. She likes familiarity and yet the one time that she decides on a change, her life is turned around completely. This will either make or break her.

On her last day in her current job, she attends a going away party with her best friend and colleagues. This is where she is approached by the most handsome, sexy and magnetic stranger. They chat away comfortably, which is also unusual for her. He ends up taking her home and things don't turn out quite as she expects. It doesn’t really matter as she is starting her new job the next day. What she encounters on reporting for duty has her dumbstruck and angry. Will she walk away for this once in a lifetime opportunity, or will she forget her anger and tackle this new job?

Lucian is broken, but what Julia makes him feel is totally alien to him. She is just as attracted to him, but they are from different worlds. Besides, the tragedies and the mysteries surrounding his family confuse her.

I like the way the story slowly builds up to a climatic finish. Although, part of the mystery isn't a complete surprise, the full extent is well thought out and beautifully presented. All of the characters have an air of mystery surrounding them, and except for the occasional glimpse of their personality, nothing gives away as to whom they really are.

I found the mystery and suspense to be totally captivating. The romance is very well portrayed. I am now curious about Dev, Gabe and the Senator. It's rather refreshing to read an interesting storyline where the scenes are very descriptive without losing sight of what's really happening. I thoroughly enjoyed this read.

The Military Wife (#1 A Heart of a Hero) Laura Trentham

Laura Trentham

Publication Date
5 February 2019

Military Contemporary Romance

An emotionally layered novel about family, loss and what it means to be a military wife.

Harper Lee Wilcox has been marking time in her hometown of Kitty Hawk, North Carolina since her husband, Noah Wilcox’s death, nearly five years earlier. With her son Ben turning five and living at home with her mother, Harper fights a growing restlessness, worried that moving on means leaving the memory of her husband behind.

Her best friend, Allison Teague, is dealing with struggles of her own. Her husband, a former SEAL that served with Noah, was injured while deployed and has come home physically healed but fighting PTSD. With three children under foot and unable to help her husband, Allison is at her wit’s end.

In an effort to reenergize her own life, Harper sees an opportunity to help not only Allison but a network of other military wives eager to support her idea of starting a string of coffee houses close to military bases around the country.

In her pursuit of her dream, Harper crosses paths with Bennett Caldwell, Noah’s best friend and SEAL brother. A man who has a promise to keep, entangling their lives in ways neither of them can foresee. As her business grows so does an unexpected relationship with Bennett. Can Harper let go of her grief and build a future with Bennett even as the man they both loved haunts their pasts?

4 Stars

This is one of the most realistic books which I have read about men serving their countries, coming home and struggling with civilian life whilst trying to cope with PTSD.

Harper is a single mother to five year old Ben, after losing her husband Noah to deployment. She lives with her mother and concentrates on giving her son a happy childhood.

Bennett didn't have a happy upbringing and his time with the SEAL has left him with a lot of physical and emotional scars. He is a loner.

Bennett made a promise to his best friend Noah, before he died and as far as he is concerned he has fulfilled his promise, but Harper wants answers. Answers that will give her closure. She approaches Bennett who has the answers. He is not forward in delving into the past. What she doesn't expect is the mutual attraction that develops between them.

Harper isn't totally happy with her life which has turned into a tedious routine. Her best friend Alison who herself is trying to cope with a husband, his PTSD and three children encourages her to get more involved with the military wives. They see an opportunity to involve the army wives whilst helping the Wounded Warriors. Bennett gets involved with the business as he himself, runs a business involving ex servicemem. The more time they spend together, the more they become attracted to each other. Can Bennett and Harper get involved in view of their relationships with Noah?

I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book. Bennett and Harper complement each other very well. Alison and all the other military wives add more realism to the story. It highlights the bond amongst the ex SEAL and how they support each other. It's a beautiful story about grief, love and loyalty. I would recommend this book to readers of all genres.

I was kindly issued with an eARC from Netgalley and the views expressed are my personal opinion.

I was born and raised in a small town in Northwest Tennessee. Although, I loved English and reading in high school, I was convinced an English degree equated to starvation! So, I chose the next most logical major - Chemical Engineering- and worked in a hard hat and steel toed boots for several years. Now I live in South Carolina with my husband and two children. In between school and homework and soccer practices, I love to get lost in another world, whether it's Regency England or small town Alabama.

My first two Falcon Football books received TOP PICKS from RT Book Reviews and a STARRED review from Library Journal. KISS ME THAT WAY, Cottonbloom Book 1, won the Stiletto Contest and was a finalist for the National Readers Choice Award. THEN HE KISSED ME, Cottonbloom Book 2, was named an Amazon Best Romance of 2016 and was a finalist of the National Excellence in Romance Fiction Award. TILL I KISSED YOU Book 3, is a finalist for the Maggie Award. And, LEAVE THE NIGHT ON Book 4, was named an iBooks Best Book of August and was featured on NPR! WHEN THE STARS COME OUT was named a Best Romance of February by Amazon!

It's February in South Carolina! Days are either super cold or so warm it make you think about spring. Yesterday I walked the dog in shorts and worked up a sweat. Lots of writing related stuff going on here... In just a few days (February 5th, to be exact) my first Women's Fiction book releases! THE MILITARY WIFE got a STARRED review from Publisher's Weekly!! That was a bucket list item for sure. Early reveiws have been *amazing* and a big thanks to everyone who has read and loved it. A tiny review excerpt...

"Trentham expertly addresses PTSD, survivor’s guilt, and falling in love after a tremendous loss with an empathy that rings true. It’s impossible to finish this remarkable book without shedding tears." Publisher's Weekly Starred Review

In addition, I have finished edits on A HIGHLANDER WALKS INTO A BAR, Book 1 in the Highland, Georgia series. It's a little different from anything I've written. Even though it is a small town romance like Cottonbloom, it veers more lighthearted and comedic. Look for it July 30th.

I've also finished the second Heart of a Hero book, Title TDB. It's not related to The Military Wife except that it is an emotional book about the sacrifices our military and families go through. It will will release Winter/Spring 2020.

Still in the works is the next Regency in the Spies and Lovers series, A SINFUL SURRENDER! Basically, I need a writing clone...

I'll have lots of covers to share with my reader group first! Come JOIN.

I would love to hear from you...  Happy Reading!!

In life, there are people who touch our lives and leave lasting marks. There are people who cut us and do so in a way that we feel as if we might never heal. If we’re lucky, we find that one person who can soothe the ache of our wounds, if not heal them. That one person who sees our flaws as perfection. That one person who can make us whole again.

Eric shoves me against the wall of that alcove, and with that window beside us, overlooking the city, his big body pressed to mine, his kiss not only devours me—it speaks to me. He’s my one person and I’m his. I feel that in his touch. I feel that in the way we connect. I taste it in his kiss. I don’t know where this leads us. I don’t know if it means we can overcome the Kingston family, but I know we can overcome his demons. He doesn’t, though. I taste that in his kiss as well. There is torment, a feeling like he’s bad for me. That he shouldn’t want me and the only comfort I find in this and where we’re headed is that he isn’t pushing me away—he’s pulling me closer. And I will hold him tighter.

I sink into the hard lines of his body, slide my hands under his shirt, hard muscle flexing beneath my palms, the thick ridge of his erection pressed to my belly. God, how I want him, how I ache for more, and the next lick of his tongue just about undoes me.  I tug on his shirt. “Take it off,” I order, wanting to feel him closer.

He reaches over his head and tugs it free and then fixes me in one of those scorching blue-eyed stares, the way he had the first night we met, and I’m melting right here in this office for him. He tugs my shirt over my head and unhooks the front of my bra, his gaze raking over my naked breasts, my nipples puckering beneath his inspection, and my sex clenching, empty, so very empty without him. “Better?” he challenges, his attention settling on my face.

My hands come down on his upper arms, the jaguar on his right shoulder, reminding me just how much he wants to deny his heritage. It reminds me just how much this family burns him alive. “A little.” I slide my hands down his hips and boldly stroke the line of his zipper, the thick ridge of his erection.

He groans, one of his hands covering my hand, the other hand catching my hair, a rough pull as his mouth closes down on mine again. And then he’s devouring me again and I love it. I love that I’ve drawn this deep, guttural reaction from him. I love that he’s all here with me, not in his own head, not doubting how good he is for me. Not swimming in the ocean of numbers in his head. Not in the hell of the Kingston family.

This drives me. I want to push him. I want to keep him here, with me. I squeeze his erection through his pants and whisper, “Why aren’t you inside me already?”

He turns me, pressing me to the wall like he had in the cottage, his big body wrapping my body, his hands on my breasts, fingers teasing my nipples, lips at my ear. “You were always sweeter than revenge,” he promises. “Always more addictive.” He plucks at my nipples. “So fucking addictive and I hated you for that.”

He reaches for my zipper and I squeeze my eyes shut. I don’t have to ask what he means. I understand. From the moment we met, he was in my head, in my heart, his touch imprinted on my body. The man I compared all others to, and they came up short. “I hated you, too.”

His hands press under the denim at my hips. He caresses them down my legs and then his arm is wrapping my waist and he’s lifting me. In a few quick moves, I’m naked and he’s standing at my hips, one palm possessively on my backside. The other on my belly.  “Do you hate me now?”  His fingers walk down to my sex and he cups me.

“Yes.” I look at him. “I still hate you for having this much control over me.” He slides his fingers along the seam of my sex, sending sensations darting through my body.

“Is that a bad thing?” he challenges, his palm squeezing my backside, his fingers slipping inside me.

“Yes,” I say, panting my way through that one word and somehow adding, “Because when I look in your eyes, like I am now, I see expectations. The wrong ones.”

He scowls and suddenly he’s turning me, pressing my back to the wall, his legs caging mine. “What does that mean?” he demands.

“It means as long as you expect to hurt me, as long as you expect you being a savant, you being different from me, to make us less, we will be. It means, you expect us to fail and so we will.” I swallow hard, my hand planting on his chest, his heart thundering beneath my palm, pounding out an emotional beat. “You think I can’t handle who and what you are. You still think I’m the princess and you’re the bastard.”

He tangles his fingers into my hair, his touch rough, erotic, as he drags my lips to his. “We are the bastard and the princess, but I don’t care anymore. I want you. I fucking need you. Do you understand me?”

Heat rushes over me, through my body, over my skin and settles in my heart and my sex. “I fucking need you, too.”

“Good, because I might have asked you to stay, but I never intended to let you go. I’m not going to let you go. I’m not going to let us go.”

by Bethany-Kris

Genres: Adult, Romantic Suspense, Organized Crime. Erotic Romance

(Free with Kindle Unlimited)

How much is too much?

Five yearsthat was the deal. Renzo Zulla gave up five years of his life to repay a debt to an organization that only wanted to break him before they could make him. Their way, their rules. He doesnt move without their okay, even if his latest job puts him right in front of her. But the five years are almost up, and he knows exactly where hes going first.

Love doesnt follow rules

Heartbroken and alonethats how she survives. Lucia Marcello is alive, but a part of her still feels dead without him. Shes spent far too much time running away from her past and the pain she constantly holds tight because its easier than hating the people who caused it. But life has a way of bringing you back when your heart never will.

Love doesnt fade.

But time means nothing, and forever might be only an illusion for them. Because where fate doesnt step in, reality does. If hate is a game you play with your heart, and contempt is the game you play with your mind  where does that leave love?

Vendettas dont care about love.

Its in Gods hands now.

Note: CONTEMPT is the final book in a three-book

Trilogy following the same couple.

5 Stars

The final installment of this trilogy is gripping. It brings out all kinds of emotions and ends in a terrific finale.

Renzo and Lucia have been kept apart for five years. Five years of uncertainties, frustrations and conflicts. Neither of them knows how the other one feels, but hope keeps them going.

When Renzo is given an assignment in California by The League, he isn't given all the details and doesn't comprehend why he is assigned to this mission. This mission leads him to New York, where he nearly has a heart attack when he spots Lucia. She can't believe her eyes either, but Renzo remembers in time that he is to stay away from her. He makes an escape and leaves her hurt and confused. Has she been holding on to false hope? Will they ever be able to discuss the events of the past five years?

This last part of the story is soul stirring and I found myself in despair on more than one occasion. I love Renzo for his well portrayed part in the story, although he gave me quite a fright when he threw caution to the wind. His loyalty knows no bound. Lucia is just as caring even though I could feel her pain. They say that love hurts and this story is a perfect example. Diego is just adorable.

I make no secrets about my feelings for the Marcellos and this just reinforces these feelings. My problem now is who is really my favourite. I think that I'll settle for loving them all. I would fully recommend this trilogy, but be warned, it's not an easy ride. Tissues at the ready! I will definitely revisit Renzo +Lucia. Loved it.

Only with You (#4 The Connor Family) Layla Hagen - Blog Tour

The next book in Layla Hagen's Connor Family series, ONLY WITH YOU, is available today! Be sure to pick up your copy now and fall in love with Val and Carter!

Carter Sloane is famous for one thing: winning cases. He's sharp, astute, and always gets his way. In his private life, he's constantly fumbling his way around when it comes to raising his two nieces.

When he moves into a new office, he just can't take his eyes off the fiercely independent woman across the street. He'd love to touch and kiss that irresistible body.

Valentina "Val" Connor is proud of her booming fragrance company. If only she were half as successful in her love life… Between trusting the wrong men and sheer bad luck, Val is convinced she'll never find the one.

However, the sexy lawyer in the neighborhood with his sophisticated charm and sex-appeal is hell bent on proving to her that she's wrong. Val's senses warn her to stay away from men like him-even if her body is begging her to cave.

But when she finds out about Carter's nieces, she steps in to help, doting on them with love and care. She can't believe that the same man who is usually in control is completely in over his head with the girls.

But as Val and Carter grow closer, one thing is clear to him: He'd move mountains to make her happy, but with Val's career soaring, how can he ask her to commit to the chaos of his life?

Well, I am becoming rather addicted to the Connor family. This fourth installment of the standalones is compelling and captivating.

Val, the oldest of the Connor siblings has been unlucky in love. This has made her weary of giving her heart easily.

Carter is a successful lawyer who dedicates all his apare time to his two orphan nieces. He works hard, plays hard and loves with all of his heart.

On their first chance encounter. Carter and Val oggle each other discreetly and an incident forces them towards each other. They seem to enjoy one another's company and having coffee together becomes the norm for them. They are both hesitant as they have had their fair share of disappointments in their love life, even when the chemistry between them is undeniable. When Val meets Carter's nieces, she is pleasantly surprised on how he treats them and he is impressed at Val's behaviour towards them. They all get on well together until doubts set in. Will they trust each other enough and embark on what could be a beautiful relationship?

I was completely invested in this love story. Carter is a real darling and Val gives it her all. There is a bit of a scare towards the end of the story, but it's a beautiful romance which is nicely portrayed. I adore all the characters and I look forward to reading more of the Connor Family.

I was kindly issued with an eARC and the views expressed are my personal opinion.
