The Escape Room by Megan Goldin - Blog Tour

The Escape Room

Megan Goldin

Publication Date
25 July 2019

Welcome to the escape room. Your goal is simple. Get out alive.’

In the lucrative world of Wall Street finance, Vincent, Jules, Sylvie and Sam are the ultimate high-flyers. Ruthlessly ambitious, they make billion-dollar deals and live lives of outrageous luxury. Getting rich is all that matters, and they'll do anything to get ahead.

When the four of them become trapped in an elevator escape room, things start to go horribly wrong. They have to put aside their fierce office rivalries and work together to solve the clues that will release them. But in the confines of the elevator the dark secrets of their team are laid bare. They are made to answer for profiting from a workplace where deception, intimidation and sexual harassment thrive.

Tempers fray and the escape room’s clues turn more and more ominous, leaving the four of them dangling on the precipice of disaster. If they want to survive, they’ll have to solve one final puzzle: which one of them is a killer?
'Fantastic – one of my favorite books of the year.' Lee Child.

4 Stars

Hold tight for this thrilling ride. The Escape Room revolves around four Wall Street employees who are summoned to participate in a team building exercise. It's told in alternate POVs. An employee who gets caught in the rat race of getting ahead to earn more money and the team participating in the team build.

Vincent, Sam, Jules and Sylvie are the high flyers who would do anything to best each other. Now that they are stuck, they have to work together to get out of the rut that they are facing. The cryptic clues are not usual and neither is their situation. Will they work in harmony to get out unscathed?

Sara is new to the firm and the treatment she receives from her colleagues is abismal. Their cruel behaviour is her downfall. Will she seek revenge or will she just accept what she has been dealt?

During their ordeal, dark secrets are revealed. The characters are immoral, over ambitious and greedy for money. The extent of their machinations is unbelievable, but what goes around comes around!

The plot on its own is unusual. The dual POVs works wonderfully well. There is greed. Victimisation. Bullying. Back Stabbing and Fraud. I like the portrayal of this story and the revelations of the true nature of the characters. The twist at the end is amazing. One that I didn’t see coming. It's a hair raising read which I would recommend to all readers.

Corrado (#1 The Gucci Legacy) Bethany-Kris - Blog Tour

by Bethany-Kris
Guzzi Duet Legacy, #1
Publication Date: July 8, 2019
Genres: Adult, Romantic Suspense, Organized Crime. Erotic Romance

The son of a prominent Cosa Nostra Don, Corrado Guzzis life should have been all mapped out. He would be what every other Guzzi man was, toomade, mafia. Its their way. But when given another choice, the chance to be something more, he takes it. Even if it comes with strings.

Its there that he might find where he belongs, and Alessio Sorrento. The man who could change his whole life.

This love thing? It should have been easy, but they made it hard. Nothing about a relationship like theirs is simple. Dictated by rules, weighed down with things left unsaid, and already hanging by a frayed thread.

This is what love looks like before, and after.
Before she came along.
And after she was there.
It takes one woman to change everything.

Ginevra Calabrese wasnt ready for thisfor them.

So, what happens now?

NOTE: Corrado (book one) and Alessio (book two) are a duet within The Guzzi Legacy series, and should be read in order. All other titles in the series are standalone. This is NOT a love triangle.

5 Stars

This book is about being born and bred in the mafioso and what's expected of those men. The emotional effects of those who don't live up to those expectations can be painful and exhausting. Not to forget the prejudice that might surface.

Corrado is the son of a mafia boss. Instead of following in his father's footsteps, he chooses his own path. A path that brings about confusion, pain and fear of being discrimated against and affect his family.

Alessio is an orphan, brought up in The League. He is quite confident of who he is, but his enemy is the fear of rejection or being second best.

Corrado and his twin brother, Chris accompany their father to visit The League. Alessio's first impressions of Corrado are not very warming. The privileged, rich kid and that sort of thing rubs Alessio up the wrong way. He takes an instant dislike to Corrado, but at the same time there is an instant attraction between them. Alessio finds himself challenging Corrado, and to his surprise Corrado doesn't back down, if anything he gives as good as he gets, even if he might end up bruised and bloody.

Despite everything, they are drawn to each other even when Corrado tries to bury his feelings. He battles with the mix emotions brought about by these feelings and up to a point goes into denial, but soon you can't see one without the other. Corrado thinks that his world has been turned upside down. Then Ginevra comes along and his world is once again turned upside down.

The emotions throughout this book are palpable. Despite Corrado's loyalty being in question, his honesty is faultless. His biggest problem is his inability to express himself, mainly because of all the confusion. Alessio doesn't have any problem with who he is and what he feels and is also very patient. Until he isn't. Ginevra is courageous and wears her heart on her sleeves.

I enjoyed finding out more about the structure of The League and learning more about Dare and Cree. I like how part of this story ties in seamlessly with John and Sienna's story. It gives another perspective to Ginevra's predicament. I also like the attitude of the Guzzi family, mainly Gian and Cara. They show what love of family truely means. Their happiness comes first. If anything the dynamics amongst the whole family fascinate me. The end of this book has left me wanting for more. Everything keeps you hanging. What happens next?

Another hit for BK. The emotions ooze through the pages.

Paranormal Romance

The fate of millions of lives hangs in the balance in this new Psy-Changeling Trinity novel from New York Times bestselling author Nalini Singh...
Kidnapped as a young girl, her psychic powers harnessed by a madman, Memory lives a caged and isolated existence . . . until she comes face-to-face with a wolf. Labelled an empath by her bad-tempered rescuer, Memory knows that her 'gift' is nothing so bright. It is a terrible darkness that means she will always be hunted.
But Memory is free now and she intends to live. A certain growly wolf can just deal with it.
Alexei prefers to keep his packmates at bay, the bleak history of his family a constant reminder that mating, love, hope is not for him. But Memory, this defiant and fearless woman who stands toe-to-toe with him awakens the most primal part of his nature - and soon, he must make a choice: risk everything or lose Memory to a murderous darkness that wants to annihilate her from existence . . .
'Paranormal romance at its best' Publishers Weekly
'Singh continues to be one of the most prolific and consistently excellent writers on the scene today' Romantic Times.

5 Stars

The Psy/Changeling series is intriguing and fascinating. The author's sense of humour always brings a smile to my face. Wolf Rain runs at a steady pace and the characters are lovable. The Psy Net continues to crumble with some devastating effects and the future prospects are looking rather gloomy.

Lexi is one of Snowdancers Lieutenant. He is a grumpy, but fun wolf. He has a fierce sense of protectiveness towards those deserving of his kindness. However, do not get on his wrong side as he isn't shy to show his claws and bites!

Memory is just that. A memory until Lexi frees her from captivity. Despite everything that she has been through, she remains strong and is very loving even though she doubts her own abilities.

Lexi is disgusted when he discovers Memory and takes her under his protection. At this stage, she could be a decoy, but that doesn't stop him from helping her. Once he discovers who she is, he is set on finding the one who wronged and abused her for so long. However, her captor is quite evasive and is hell bent on getting back what he thinks is his.

As Lexi and Memory get to the know each other, a bond forms between them, but he is convinced that he is cursed. Getting too close to him could prove to be detrimental. Can they find a solution to this problem?

Lexi and Memory fit well together. Their interactions are somewhat interesting. I like Lexi's strength and loyalty as well as Memory's strength and determination. The way she adapts to her new life is admirable. The highlight is being back in Snowdancer's territory and revisiting some of my favourite characters who all have valuable roles in this solid and out of this world concept. Loved it and looking forward to more to come.

I've been writing as long as I can remember and all of my stories always held a thread of romance (even when I was writing about a prince who could shoot lasers out of his eyes). I love creating unique characters, love giving them happy endings and I even love the voices in my head. There's no other job I would rather be doing. In September 2002, when I got the call that Silhouette Desire wanted to buy my first book, Desert Warrior, it was a dream come true. I hope to continue living the dream until I keel over of old age on my keyboard.

I was born in Fiji and raised in New Zealand. I also spent three years living and working in Japan, during which time I took the chance to travel around Asia. I’m back in New Zealand now, but I’m always plotting new trips. If you’d like to see some of my travel snapshots, have a look at the Travel Diary page (updated every month).

So far, I've worked as a lawyer, a librarian, a candy factory general hand, a bank temp and an English teacher and not necessarily in that order. Some might call that inconsistency but I call it grist for the writer's mill.
