The Bastard (Filthy Duet #6 Dirty Rich) Lisa Renee Jones - Release Blitz

I'm the bastard child, son to the mistress, my father's backup heir to the Kingston empire. He sent me to Harvard. I left and became a Navy SEAL, but I'm back now, and I finished school on my own dime. I'm now a few months from being a billionaire myself. I don't need my father's company or his love. My "brother" can have it. I will never go back there. I will never be the mistake my father made, the way he was the mistake my mother made.

And then she walks in the door, the princess I'd once wanted more than I'd wanted my father's love. She wants me to come back. She says my father needs to be saved. I don't want to save my father but I do want her. Deeply. Passionately. More than I want anything else.

But she's The Princess and I'm The Bastard. We don't fit. We don't belong together and yet she says that she needs me. We're like sugar and spice, we don't mix, but I really crave a taste. Just one. What harm can just one taste do?

This story is relentless and addictive. It captured and held my attention right from the beginning.

Eric is the "bastard" son to the Kingston Motors empire. Something that his brother Isaac takes great delight in reminding him. As much as he wanted to be a part of this family, this time has passed. He now considers those who run Bennett Enterprises to be his family. He is a genius and self made millionaire.

Harper is the step daughter of Eric's father. She sticks by Kingston Motors to honour her father's legacy, but she is not held in high regards!

When Eric sets eyes on Harper at one of his father's party, there is an instant attraction from both parties. They have a brief encounter, but Eric doesn't want to have anything to do with the "enemy" and makes a sharp exit.

Six years later, Harper goes to him for help. There is something fishy going on in Kingston Motors, but she isn't getting any answers from anyone. The sparks between them is ignited once again, and against his better judgement, Eric goes to investigate. With the help of the Walker brothers, he realises that there is more going on than meets the eyes! As he gets closer to Harper, he becomes more inclined to get to the bottom of the truth. He doesn't trust anyone else, but can he trust her?

Eric is fair and honest to those he loves and trusts even though, his earlier days were riddled with pain, rejection and disrespect. Harper is too trusting and even when she knows that something is drastically wrong, she stays to protect her mother. This story has love, passion, endless twists, mysteries and secrets. It had me on tenterhooks on more than one occasion. When things appear to be falling into place, something else goes wrong and raises more questions. The worse one being at the end, when Harper's secret is let out of the bag. Oh! No, it doesn't stop there, there is another agonising twist of event. This cliffhanger only brings more questions. There is no indication as to the "who" or the "why", and the wait is on for the answers to these questions and so many more! It's a well constructed and complex story which sucked me in and has left me wanting for more. Nailbiting!

I was kindly issued with an eARC and the views expressed are my personal opinion.

THE PRINCESS IS THE SECOND BOOK IN THE FILTHY DUET! The finale to Harper and Eric’s story will be out on January 23rd and is available for pre-order everywhere!

“This is a bad idea,” she whispers, but her voice is raspy, affected, the taste of her hunger damn near on my tongue.

I kiss her, a quick brush of lips, and a lick that has the heat between us damn near explosive. “Still think it’s a bad idea?”

Her hands flatten on my chest but they flex rather than push. “We both know this is wrong.”

“And yet you followed me here.”

“You said that already,”

“You knew what would happen,” I accuse.

“I was angry.”

I certainly know where anger and family collide, in ways I won’t explain to anyone. My jaw sets hard and I release her, putting a wide step between us. “Stay or go, but if you stay, you’re going to end up naked.”

“I know your father’s an asshole, but my mother loves him and my father’s company is now a part of this one.”

“The part where I said that if you stayed, you’d end up naked.” I reach for her and pull her to me. “You did understand that, correct?”

“I don’t scare off that easily. If I did, I wouldn’t be working for your father and under your brother.”

“It’s me I want you under,” I say, molding her close, my hands sliding up her back.

“I’m too young and stupid for business, but I’m just right to fuck?” she challenges.

“I’m warning you, Harper, not talking down to you. And if you’re young and stupid, so was I.”

“You wanted to be here,” she says.

“Yes,” I say, tangling my fingers into her hair. “I wanted to be here, just like I want to be right here, right now, with you.” My mouth closes down on hers once more, a deep thrust of tongue that’s as unforgiving as my father would be if it came down to choosing her or Isaac. It’s all about demand and I expect her to push back, to give me the rejection that sends her to the door and me to the fucking airport. That’s not what I get.

Her hand on my chest doesn’t push me away. She moans and her elbow softens, those perfect curves I’d admired from a distance now pressed nice and close, right up to the moment she jerks back. “My God. What are we doing? You’re my stepbrother.”

I walk her back against the wall, my hands caressing up her ribcage to cup her breasts. “I told you,” I say, stroking my thumbs over her nipples. “I’m not your fucking brother. Not now. Not ever.” I cup her face, lean in and my mouth finds her mouth, and if she thought my tongue unforgiving before now, she was wrong. This is unforgiving. It’s in my blood. It’s who I am, who I was born to be. A bastard who wants her.

I have this sudden need that consumes me. I shove my hand into the top of her dress, fingering her nipple. She makes this soft, sexy sound that has my cock twitching, expanding beneath my zipper. As if she knows, she presses her hand to my crotch and holy fuck, I need inside this woman. I push off the wall and shrug out of my jacket, my gaze raking over the tops of her breasts. Her teeth scrape her bottom lip, and I want that mouth on my body. I want my mouth on her body.

I toss the jacket, rip away my tie, and she doesn’t run away as I half expect she will. She closes the space between us, her fingers on my buttons, working them down my shirt, but when one hand slides down to my crotch, I react. I slow things down before I fuck her and this is over, and when it is, I’m gone. Suddenly I’m not ready to leave, which is why I turn her to the wall, and force her hands to its surface, yanking down her zipper before I pull my shirt over my head. I step into her, my erection at her backside, my lips at her ear.

“You saw me watching you across the pool,” I say, my fingers catching the straps at her shoulders.

“Of course I saw you. You wanted me to see you.”

“Yes. I did. I wanted you to know I wanted to fuck you.” I shove the straps of her dress down her arms. “I wanted you to know I wanted you naked.” I pull the dress down, and with no bra to contend with I have it down her hips and to her feet. I lift her and kick it away, taking a moment to appreciate just how perfect her heart-shaped ass is before I turn her to face me.

My fingers tangle in her hair and I pull her to me. “And since you’re here,” I add, “I will assume you got that message loud and clear.”

“I’m still angry and you’re still an arrogant asshole, but apparently it doesn’t matter, so fuck me before I come to my senses.”

I press my cheek to hers, my hand on her cheek, lips by her ear. “I promise to use my tongue in all the right places to make sure you have no regrets.”

She pants out a breath that tells me my words affect her and I’m right there when she does, kissing her again, drinking her in, and damn she tastes good; one part innocence, one part a drug that knows how good it feels. And she does feel so fucking good.

I scoop her up and carry her through the living area to the bedroom, because hell, I don’t know, it just feels like I should fuck her on the bed, though I could have easily kept her right there by the door. I want this woman. I want her in a bad way and I wanted her from the moment I saw her by that pool. I set her on her feet and I pull her close. “This is where I lick and you come on my tongue.”

Meant for You (#3 The Connor Family) Layla Hagen - Release Blitz

Will Connor lives his life by simple rules: take care of those he loves, give one hundred percent to his job, and never ignore his instincts. So when he meets Paige, he doesn't plan to ignore their crazy chemistry, or the way her pretty smile strips him of all defenses…

As the development director of a nonprofit, Paige Lamonica has met her fair share of people. But Will is something else entirely. The sexy detective is a little too confident. With sculpted muscles and a chiseled jawline, he's also far too easy on the eye. She loves that he goes toe-to-toe with her at every turn.

When Will asks her to attend his sister's wedding with him, Paige thinks he just wants to throw some relatives who want to play matchmakers off his scent.

She couldn't be more wrong. Will wants her.

When she teases him, he teases her right back. When she pushes his buttons, he repays her with dangerously hot flirting...and even hotter kisses.

As they spend more time together, Paige discovers there's more to Will than she thought. With every layer she peels away, she craves more…

But as the daughter of an Army man, Paige has never wanted to get involved with someone on the force.

Can Will persuade her to explore their growing connection with him?

5 Stars

This is a scorcher. The Connor Family is proving to be just as lovable and addictive as the Bennett Family Series. The series is getting better and better with every book.

Will is a Detective who joined the forces for personal and all other right reasons. His job and his love for his family are first and foremost in his life. Until now!

Paige is the director of a non profit organisation. She has just returned to LA to put her grandmother's affairs in order and back to working with her old team.

Paige is having a reunion with her two best friends at her grandmother's Inn when there is a knock on the door. The sight in front of her blows her socks off! Will's appearance is a sight for sore eyes. She oggles him and he oggles right back with his cheeky grin. Once he is happy that everything is in order, he makes his exit, but not before giving Paige his card. Just in case.

Will has casual dates, but for some reasons, he can't get his mind off the gorgeous brunette. Whilst Paige is reporting an incident at the station, Will jumps at the chance of taking over. This gives him the opportunity to give Paige advice on security and why not ask her out for a bite while he is at it? On impulse he asks her to accompany him at his sister's wedding to avoid his cousin's matchmaking. She eventually agrees and he couldn't be happier!

Well, what do you know? Will finds that he has a possessive streak and wants Paige all to himself. She finds him swoon worthy, as she should, and has all kinds of thoughts about him. There is a definite spark between them, but Paige is reluctant. She avoids dating anyone on the forces because of childhood experiences. Can Will change her mind and explore what's between them?

I totally enjoyed everything about this beautiful storyline. I love everything about Will. His dedication to his family. His wit. His dirty talking. His grovelling. The way he reassures Paige after the "incident". He loves with all of his heart. Paige is a worthy heroine with a commendable job. She isn't afraid to go toe to toe with Will. They are perfect together and she fits right in with the Connor Clan. There are some heartbreaking moments, but the end is so very worth it. I loved it, and I look forward to reading the next one.

I was kindly issued with an eARC and the views expressed are my personal opinion.

Vow (#2 Andino + Haven Duet) Bethany-Kris

Publication Date
4 November 2018

Adult Mafia Romance

They say it’s always the one you least expect …

Andino Marcello made his choices—the right ones for duty and famiglia. But even the right choices have consequences. He’s never been more aware of that fact than he is now. The thing is, Andino isn’t the same man he once was. The mafia wants what it wants. He’ll push until they all break. Even her.

They say love shouldn’t hurt …

Haven Murphy needs to move on—from her pain and the man who caused it. But the faster she tries to run, the more things stay the same. She never thought it would end like this for them. The thing is, Haven isn’t the same woman she once was. The heart wants what it wants. She’ll fight until it all lets go. Even him.

How far will he go for love?
All the way to the very bitter end.
That’s his vow.

5 Stars

The conclusion of this epic love story was well worth waiting for. Nothing is what it seems. The plot is ingeniously engineered and kept me guessing right until the end.

Andino is the heir to the Marcello empire. He has a brilliant mind and knows how to execute his cunning plans. He always gets what he wants!

Haven is having a complete makeover of her life. Her heartbreak is too much to bear, besides her family needs her.

After what happened in the previous book, Haven is just about managing to go from one day to the next. She decides that giving up everything that she has worked so hard for is worth sacrificing, if it will alleviate some of her pain. Oh! Andi is suffering too, but being the next boss isn't easy and he has to adhere by the rules even if his heart is breaking. Underneath it all, he has an end game which nobody sees coming!

As much as Haven wants to get away, she still cares and when Andi is subjected to an attack, she can't resist checking on him. This only leads to more pain and uncertainties. It's all rather confusing, but Andi has to play his part. When Haven learns of the new development with the Calabrese family, she is utterly devastated. Andi can't reveal his plans to her and when he tries to explain, she is past listening to more "lies". That doesn't stop him from making his vow. Will he be able to pull off his plan and win Haven back, or are they doomed to live without each other?

The final part of this duet is as entrancing as it is agonising. Andi might be keeping his plan to himself and a selected few, but he loves with all his heart. His behaviour appears to be almost cruel, but his intentions are "honourable"! He plays dirty to get what he wants and has to be admired for his genius. I felt Haven's pain and it takes courage to take the steps she does even though it's heartwrencing. Worth it though, as everything works out as it should. All of the Marcello journeys have been upheavals in different ways, and this one is no exception.

I like the overlap with John's + Siena's story as it brings a different perspective to the whole thing. This story is intricately woven. The behind the scenes plot is slowly revealed until it reaches the most satisfying peak. It's another one that I will revisit. Pure genius!

Bethany-Kris is a Canadian author, lover of much, and mother to four young sons, one cat, and three dogs. A small town in Eastern Canada where she was born and raised is where she has always called home. With her boys under her feet, snuggling cat, barking dogs, and a hubby calling over his shoulder, she is nearly always writing something ... when she can find the time.

Six Weeks With a Lord by Eve Pendle

Eve Pendle

Historical Romance

Grace Alnott is out of time. To save her younger brother from an abusive guardian, her merchant father’s will demands she must marry a peer.

Handsome but destitute Everett Hetherington, Earl of Westbury agrees to her offer of a marriage of convenience but stipulates she must live with him for six weeks. No matter how honorable he seems she can’t allow him to get too close, because the aristocracy cannot be trusted.

Six weeks. Major Everett Hetherington, new Earl of Westbury, has exactly six weeks to convince the very independent Grace Alnott to spend the rest of her life with him. Despite her belief she doesn't belong in his world, he must tempt the alluring Grace into staying, because he has fallen for her. Hard. He just has to ensure she never discovers his secret.

4 Stars

This is an engaging historical romance where two strangers come to an agreement to solve their problems.

Grace isn't an aristocrat, but her father's trade is successful and she can afford a decent dowry.

Everett is a spare heir who joined the army. After an accident in the family, he finds himself with a title and the mess that comes with it.

When Grace returns from finishing school, her father's Will pushes her to look for an escape in order to keep her independence and care for her beloved brother, Henry. To do so, she has to avoid Lord Rayner, the cruel guardian who has their future in his hands. She places an ad in the hope of attracting the right candidate. Everett is left to clear his brother's debts and take care of his estate which has been left in disarray. Grace's ad is just what he is looking for. A marriage of convenience with specific conditions is agreed upon, but neither of them is telling the whole truth.

After the wedding, Grace sticks to her end of the bargain and goes to Larksview with Everett. Everything should work out as long as he keeps his hands to himself for a six weeks period. If everything goes to plan, she can gain guardianship of her brother and go her seperate ways. The thing is that they have both misjudged each other. Aristocracy is not to be trusted, but as they spend time together, Grace starts to trust Everett and he becomes aware of her true purpose. He promises to help her, but is not so forthcoming about his own intentions. At the same time, feelings become involved and Everett faces yet another dilemma. He has gained her trust and by accident, she finds evidence of his real plan. She is devastated and as much as he wants to stick to his original plan, he has to respect his end of the bargain. Is this the end or can he salvage what he values the most?

This story brings mix feelings about both main characters. Everett's deceit is quite cutting, but when he realises what he is losing, he does everything in his power to put things right even though, he still might lose what's most important to him. It's a bit surprising that Grace leaves Henry in Lord Rayner's care for so long without knowing the full extent of the situation. She is doing all the right things to get guardianship, but at the same time, giving Rayner the opportunity to thwart her plans. Everything is uncertain for a while, but Everett's efforts work out for the best. It's a captivating story which proves that no matter what, honesty is the best policy. An enjoyable sensual read with plenty of suspense, angst and love.

I was kindly issued with an eARC from Netgalley and the views expressed are my personal opinion.

I live in England and write angsty, snarky and passionate romance. My love of reading historical romance eventually morphed into wanting to write my own.

Once Upon a Duke (#12 Dukes of Christmas) Erica Ridley

Erica Ridley

Publication Date
9 October 2018

Historical Romance

Beware romantic spirits from Christmas past...

Due to the terms of an estranged relative's will, the Duke of Silkridge must revisit the cold, unforgiving mountains where he lost everything he once loved. As soon as he rights his family legacy, he'll return to London where he belongs. He definitely won't rekindle the forbidden spark crackling between him and the irresistible spitfire he'd left behind...

Noelle Pratchett is immune to charming rakehells like the arrogant duke. He stole her heart, stole her first kiss, and then stole away one night never to return. Now he's back—and so are all the old feelings. Noelle knows he won't stay. But how can she maintain her icy shields when every heated glance melts her to her core?

The Twelve Dukes of Christmas is a laugh-out-loud historical romance series of heartwarming Regency romps nestled in a picturesque snow-covered village. After all, nothing heats up a winter night quite like finding oneself in the arms of a duke!

3 Stars

This is a charming and humourous historical romance set in the cold, picturesque and remote village of Cressmouth.

Benjamin is a Duke who is dedicated to his role in the House of Lords. Between looking after his estate and his official duties, he doesn't have time for much else.

Noelle has only known one home. Cressmouth. It's a close knit community where it's Christmas all year round. She works hard to play her role in this community that she loves.

Benjamin left Cressmouth five years ago and had no intention of returning. His only good memory of the place is Noelle. Before, he left, he was robbed of his most treasured family heirloom. He now has the chance to retrieve his family legacy and makes the journey to Cressmouth where Christmas is still being celebrated. He doesn't celebrate Christmas. It only brings bad memories. He hates the jolly atmosphere and his only reprieve is Noelle! It doesn't matter as he has no intention of staying, but the reading of the Will gives him no choice, but to stay and complete a task before he can claim his legacy!

He finds himself working alongside Noelle and as hard as he tries, he is a unable to stay away from her. Memories of the past come flooding back, but he doesn't want a repeat of what happened before. If only their situation were different and the society wasn't so rigid in its expectations. He is impressed by Noelle's abilities and the numerous tasks that she undertakes in the castle. She fights her feelings too, but finds herself doing little things that mean a lot to him. She also finds a different side to him and the real reason why he left without saying goodbye. Will history repeat itself or will they find a way to give their hearts what they want?

This is an easy to read story. It's humourous, but there is angst too. The inhabitants of Cressmouth are a jolly bunch. They also have a strong tie with one another. Noelle considers everyone to be family and nothing makes her happier than to make everyone happy. She is kind and understanding and is willing to put her heart on the line once again. Benjamin doesn't fare any better, but they both decide to fight for their hearts desire and it proves to be more than worth it. It's an entertaining and festive read and would appeal to fans of historical romance.

I was kindly issued with an eARC and the views expressed are my personal opinion.
