Glancing up from the faucet, she expected to see an apology in his eyes for being so cold to her. Instead, she saw impatience.

“Can I wash my hands?”

“When I finish.” She didn’t know why she’d held her ground. It wasn’t like she hadn’t cleaned the pear enough. But she was pissed at him—no, herself. God, she didn’t know. Nothing made sense. They’d been so close last night—she’d felt so comfortable with him, so free. And then he’d ruined everything with that kiss-off. I have to stay on track.

Okay, Will. Sorry for cutting in on your eight hours.

He stepped closer, reaching around her for the soap. His big, sweaty arms boxed her in, his thighs touching the backs of hers. He lathered his hands. “Let’s not make things uncomfortable for Ruby, okay?”

He was right. “I won’t.” Of course, he was.

“I’m sorry if I hurt you, and we can talk about it later, but Ruby picks up on everything, and I don’t want a strained, weird vibe in her home.”

“I know.” She didn’t need to be bitchy. It wasn’t like they’d made each other promises. They’d gotten carried away, and it had been great. “It was just sex.” She’d meant to lighten the mood, but the way he flinched—his arm grazing her bare skin—made her sizzle down to the soles of her feet. “Lackluster at that.”

“Right.” He held her gaze—hard, intense—but his words came out nonchalant. “Basic.”

“Yep. I’m all about the extra.”

“Never settle, Delilah Lua.” He clamped down on what might’ve been an awesome grin. “Never settle.”

She set the pear down and turned in his arms. “So, we’re good?”

He gave her that burning, hungry look that made desire churn and a flash fire race across her skin. “We’re good.”

And then he put a hand on Ruby’s head. “I’m gonna hit the shower. You okay to stay down here with Wally?”

“Go wif you.”

He lifted his sister and headed across the living room. When his foot hit the bottom stair, he turned to her. “For what it’s worth?”

She waited.

“It was spectacular.”

This second installment of Bad Boyfriends is quite the emotional rollercoaster. I was absorbed by the story right from the start.

Will is the oldest of the four Bowie brothers and is a ski champion. Except for his brothers, he doesn't allow anyone to get too close to him due to the fear of being left behind through something that happened in his childhood.

Delilah is a chef for her family's famous Italian restaurant. All her life she has dreamt of owning her own franchise and looking forward to the day when that dream would turn to reality.

On her twentysixth birthday, Delilah is waiting in anticipation for the news that should materialise, but instead she receives unexpected news which shatters her dreams. Suddenly, she is at a loss and doesn't know where to go next. Her best friend Callie comes up with a suggestion of entering a competition in the small town of Calamity. Not having many other options, she is willing to take her chances.

Will and his family find themselves in a baffling situation. A surprise addition to the family! Will, being the oldest takes charge, and no matter what, these brothers stick together. Despite not wanting to get too close to anyone, Will is captivated by Ruby and becomes very protective. He would give her the life that she deserves with the help of his brothers.

On arriving in Calamity to stay at the Bowie's home, Delilah's first encounter is with little Ruby who appears to be in distress. Coaxing doesn't work, therefore she does what she does best. Ruby can hardly refuse the opportunity of cookies and it's the middle of the night! This is where Delilah comes face to face with a disgruntled Will. He is none too happy about what he sees, but being a good host, he gives Delilah a few ground rules for where Ruby is concerned.

Being an aloof person, Will doesn't usually notice little things about the opposite sex, but this is not so in Delilah's case. Besides, he doesn't need such a distraction. His priorities are Ruby's welfare and his training for the forthcoming Olympics. Delilah is not totally unaffected by Will's commanding presence. He gives her butterflies in her stomach, but she has to concentrate on the contest and she will be leaving soon after. How long can they resist this obvious attraction between them? They are both facing drastic life changes. Are they prepared for a new start?

I really enjoyed the first book in the series, but this one had my emotions in tatters. Little Ruby having to go through such a tragedy at such a young age. Will's scarred past is agonising. Delilah's news which shattered her dreams. They each takes its toll and I must admit that my heart skipped a beat towards the end, but the author does a wonderful job of turning things around to deliver a beautiful finish to the story. Very well portrayed with lovable characters. Loved it.

I was kindly issued with an eARC and the views expressed are my personal opinion.

Six years ago Fin Bowie made a decision that cost him the love of his life. Now his ex is coming back to town for her brother's wedding, and he can finally make things right. Except, right before the event, a text he sent goes viral. Overnight, he becomes an international meme. And it's hard to win your woman back when the whole world's calling you The World's Worst Boyfriend.

The last thing on Calliope Bell's mind is getting back with Fin. Not when her life's just gone sideways, forcing her to spend the summer in Calamity, Wyoming. She can't be away from the New York art world this long, so she comes up with the idea to turn the hottest pop culture event of the moment into a museum exhibition.

The two have every intention of avoiding each other--until the county judge sentences Fin to community service...helping her exploit the meme he's trying to make go away.

Breaking The Rules (#5 Inked Hearts) Crystal Kaswell

Author
Crystal Kaswell

Publication Date

1 October 2018

Genre
New Adult Romance

Rule #1 Hands off my best friend's kid sister.

Rule #2 See rule number one.

Rule #3 Seriously, don't even think about touching Emma.

Emma Kane is my new room mate. My very off limits room mate. My gorgeous, sassy, hot as hell room mate.

I try to keep my distance. To ignore her soft laugh, her intense eyes, her sweet smile.

And that groan, the one she makes over her morning coffee--

Alright, the feisty college student is driving me out of my mind.

I can still keep my hands off her.

I double down on my rules. Draw that line between friends and lovers.

Then she presses her red lips to mine.

And, suddenly, it’s obvious.

There's no way in hell I can resist her.

From the author: Breaking the Rules is a smoking hot standalone brother's best friend romance with an alpha hero and the feisty heroine who brings him to his knees. Come see why readers say "no one writes broken bad boys like Crystal Kaswell."

This friends to lovers/forbidden love is an enticing and romantic read. There are rules, but then again rules are meant to be broken!

Hunter is a talented tattoo artist who has made mistakes for which he is now paying emotionally. The last turn of events has made him determined to rectify those mistakes and hopefully put him out of his misery.

Emma is a college student who works part time at Inked Hearts. She too has been scarred, but kept it a secret.

When Brendon, Emma's brother goes on holidays with his girlfriend, Hunter steps in as a temporary replacement at Inked Hearts. He is also staying in his apartment during his absence. Emma is trying to get away from her apartment to escape from that dreadful and distressing experience and seeks her brother's help for temporary accommodation. Except when she gets to her brother's apartment, she is met with a mouthwatering view. A view which is now stamped on her brain! This is the where she finds out that she has to share the apartment with Hunter. Although they have known each other in the past, they are no longer the same. Emma is beautiful and cheeky to go with it and Hunter is the ultimate male alpha.

There is a definite attraction there, but Brendon has put rules in place before his departure. Emma and Hunter find themselves being each other's baby sitter with a no "hanky panky" condition. He is aware of Hunter's history and that Emma isn't telling the truth about her move. Emma, more than Hunter resents these rules even though underneath it all, she is attracted to Hubter. They start off with a tentative friendship, but soon find that they enjoy each other's company and they have fun together. Hunter tries to do the right thing by making Emma jealous to put her off, but it backfires when the shoe is on the other foot. Can they remain friends or will they eventually break the rules and face Brendon's wrath?

These two main characters are lovable and fun even when they feel that they are "broken". They complement each other perfectly. When Emma learns about Hunter's past, she is supportive and puts herself out to try and mend the family bridges. Hunter is mature enough to deal with Emma's dilemma in a sensible and encouraging way without making her feel worse about her situation.

This story has friendship, loyalty, love and some dramatic and heartbreaking features. It's very well portrayed and I like the dynamics between the Inked Hearts personnel. Hunter's brothers bring different aspects to the story. Wes is a bundle of laughter, whereas Chase is unforgiving. It would be nice to read their stories. I absolutely loved the whole thing. Tears and all! Great read.

I was kindly issued with an eARC and the views expressed are my personal opinion.

Crystal Kaswell writes fun, sexy new adult romances with damaged heroes and the strong women who unlock their hearts.

She is a USA Today and Wall Street Journal bestseller. Her best known series are Sinful Serenade and Dangerous noise–both follow the men in a rock band the the women they love. She adores writing bad boys, alpha males, and tortured heroes (and sometimes men who are all three).
Her weaknesses include dark chocolate, homemade chai lattes, Netflix marathons, and tattooed men in skinny jeans (especially if they’re wearing eyeliner). She is a diehard defender of pop-punk music, the present tense, and Katniss Everdeen.

DUTY - MUSIC PLAYLIST

Duty is another compelling, romantic, heartwrenching and tense page turner. Making a choice between Love and Duty can be unbearable.

Andino aka Andi Marcello is a good capo who loves his family and honours the Cosa Nostra rules. Until now!

Haven is a capable and independent young woman who works hard to make her business a success. Her life revolves around her work, jogging and home, and she is content with what she has, but this is about to change!

Andi has just been informed that he is the next heir to the Marcello crown. News that he wasn't expecting, but will turn his comfortable world upside down. He takes his dog, Snaps for a walk in the park to clear his head. This is where he meets Haven who strikes a conversation and instantly there is this magnetic pull between them.

They both find themselves thinking about each other constantly and Andi decides to explore his feelings, a new experience for him. They are unable to resist the physical attraction and as much as he tries, he finds himself going back for more. Haven is slowly falling, but she is unaware of Andi's heritage and feels like a second fiddle to his busy life. Besides, she is far from being the image of a boss' wife and Andi might just have to settle for the outfit's choice of the "right" woman. The more entangled they become, the stronger their feelings become. Being under pressure from Dante, the current boss who doesn't approve of Haven, will he choose Love over Duty or hurt the one he really cares for?

Andi has always been projected as his cousin's John's, best friend and protector, but reading his own story is rather enlightening. In some ways it enhances the role he plays in John's story. This is expertly done as one would expect from this author. It also shows other facets in the dynamics of the Marcello family by whom I am always fascinated. I love the plot, the portrayal and everything else about this story. Haven's character is totally different from any of the other Marcellos stories and the end has left me wanting for more. I am keeping my fingers and everything else crossed. No dull moments in here whatsoever. Absolutely loved it.

I was kindly issued with an eARC and the views expressed are my personal opinion.

Hunt Me picks up from where it left off in the first book, but can be read as a standalone. The author recaps the main events of the disaster of the Promegadon which gives a good overview of what happened that night. Chase and Esma are the main characters in this story.

Chase and Esma have been dating for a couple of years, but Chase was unaware of Esma's true nature. On finding out, he takes it as a betrayal and breaks up with Esma.

Cassandra is from a family of vampire slayers and is friendly with Esma and her stepsister, Morgan. She organises a camping trip for the three of them to help Esma get over the breakup. Girls only!

Chase is interning as an assistant radio host with Al, Cassandra's father who is a vampire slayer. Someone reports a missing Sasquatch being hunted, everyone takes it as a joke except for Al.

The girls are enjoying their trip until they come across the Sasquatch and the accidental death of his hunter. They are quite taken by the Sasquatch and sets about returning him to his family, then strange things start to happen. They are attacked by blood thirsty vampires and Esma resorts to contacting Chase. Even though, they are no longer together, he comes to the rescue.

Although he behaves indiffently towards Esma, the feelings between them are still alive, but Chase is intent on a new start. When more danger appears in the most unlikely form of other campers, their first instinct is to protect each other. Can Chase forgive Esma for her omission?

This is an easy to read paranormal young adult romance with plenty of adventure. "Barney" captured my heart! I quite liked Cassandra in the first book, but her behaviour is quite irritating in some parts of this story. It's also good to catch up with Van and Morgan. I like Esma's reasoning for her behaviour towards Chase. Despite all their differences, they make a sweet couple. I enjoyed the storyline and would like to see what comes next.

I was kindly issued with an eARC and the views expressed are my personal opinion.
