For years, he hid his feelings…until one terrible night, it all came to a head.

Since her life blew up in high school, Knox Holliday has spent her time honing her skills as a couture wedding dress designer. But, just weeks before her debut, a freak accident wipes out her collection. The culprit: her ex’s former best friend, Gray Bowie.

Gray does everything he can to get her career back on track. As they work together, they find forgiveness and start to stitch together something that looks a lot like love. But, at the very moment they realize they have a chance for something real, her ex comes back to town, bringing opportunities Gray can’t provide.

“Yeah. Yep.” His voice sounded gravelly.

When she opened the door, she saw a flash of white, as he flipped the covers back and swung his legs off the bed. He snatched his boxers off the floor, jamming his legs into them and yanking them up. Scrubbing his face, he stalked towards her. “You all right? What’s going on?”

“I believe you.”

“Sorry?” He looked so adorable, this big mountain of a man, wearing nothing but bright red boxers with a green grinch printed all over them. His broad, hairy chest, so toned, so fit, those bulging biceps, and rock-hard thighs—my God.

This man had loved her.

“I believe you.” This time she smiled because those were the three most powerful words she’d ever said.

“Still not getting it.”

“I’ve been working through it subconsciously. I started with total dismissal. No way did Gray Bowie have feelings for me. Then I moved to, okay, yeah, you don’t spend all that time with a pity project. You put on latex gloves and serve her a nice dinner once a year. You don’t lie on her bed, feet against the wall, and talk about her dreams of being a fashion designer.”

He watched her, like the glitter was settling and the image inside the snow globe was becoming delightfully clear.

“But then, the truth started to sink in. You had a busy life. Not just your competitions, but your brothers, your dad, and uncle. And then—bam—it rose right up out of my subconscious and smacked me across the face.” She came closer to him. “Gray, you chose me over time with your brothers. Well, over a lot of things. And I didn’t see it because of them. Of what bullies like Cady and Melissa trained me to believe. That I was trash. I thought flipping them the bird made me rise above it. I thought my little revenge plots made me invincible. But I didn’t see how my impressions about myself and the world came from them. Gray, the idea that you loved me? It just didn’t compute. A guy like you?”

His eyes softened, and he cracked a shy grin. Oh, Gray Bowie all vulnerable like that? That was hotter than anything she’d ever seen.

“I don’t know how it would’ve changed my life if I’d seen the truth,” she said. “But I can tell you it changes me now.”

He didn’t say anything, and awareness broke over her like a cracked egg. Don’t forget that he walked away, stayed away for seven years. He’d had no intention of ever seeing you again.

Oh, God. He was talking about a childhood crush, and she was standing here gushing at him. “I mean, I know you don’t love me anymore. Of course. Obviously. I’m just saying that you’ve given me a whole new perspective on my childhood, and it’s pretty damn amazing. We’re good, though. We can work together without you thinking that I’m, like…that I expect…you know, that I think you’re still in love with me.” She laughed, but it sounded as phony as it felt. “Anyhow. I just wanted to say I believe you. That’s a big moment for me, not you, so I obviously shouldn’t have woken you up to tell you. I could’ve kept that one to myself. So, anyhow. I’m a weirdo. Goodnight.” She gave him a smile she was pretty sure could only be found in a Fun House hall of mirrors and turned to go.

But his years of training served him well, because his arm shot out, wrapped around her waist, and jerked her against his hot, hard chest. “Never keep anything to yourself.” He leaned in until she could smell the toothpaste on his breath and the clean-linen scent on his skin. “I love every damn thing that comes out of your mouth.”

And then he pressed those beautiful lips to hers, and her heart exploded. Desire, sharp and fierce, burst in her core, the current so strong it flooded every fiber and tissue in her body. Immediately, she lost herself in the feel of his smooth, warm skin and the command of his tongue as it took possession of hers.

Gray’s kiss started with supreme confidence, making it feel like he was in charge, that she was along for the ride—a thrilling but controlled ride. One you knew couldn’t go off the rails.

And then it faltered. He let out a sign that sounded utterly desperate. The power of his touch gave way to a tremble in his arms, and his body heated up to blistering.

His control snapped, and he turned reckless, wild. She’d never been kissed like this—like he needed to gobble her up but couldn’t get all of her in at once. Like he needed to consume her, get his fill before she was snatched away. Everything about Gray—his scent, the way his strong hands roamed her back as though he couldn’t believe he got to touch her—the passion in his embrace—lit her up, flipped on all the lights—and she wanted it. She wanted this torrent of yearning and desire and need.

Until those strong hands slid down and cupped her ass and gave her a lusty squeeze. The press of his arousal against her stomach sent up warning flares—sex—and, God, sex with Gray Bowie?

Panic had her hands pushing him away. “I…” Her fingertips brushed across her sensitive lips.

Those blue eyes worked hard to read her, his chest pumping, arms still out so that if she took one step forward her bottom would fit snugly back in his hands.

And it struck her—like really hit her hard—how much she wanted that.

“I’m sorry. I…goodnight.”

The Careless Boyfriend is just as absorbing as the first two "Bad Boyfriend". This best friend's friend and friends to lovers story brings a completely different dimension to this genre.

Gray is an adrenaline junkie who flips from one extreme sport to another.

Knox has been best friend to Gray from an early age. Whereas Gray comes from wealth, Knox comes from the opposite side.

Robert is the other one who forms this trio of friendship as well as being Knox's boyfriend.

When things takes a turn for the worse on prom night, Gray who has been in love with Knox forever comes to his senses and cuts the cords. Robert goes for treatment and Knox leaves town to realise her dream of becoming a designer. A fluke accident which ruins Knox's first bridal show reunites Gray and Knox. Gray does his best to put things right and in the process finds that his feelings for Knox never changed. Together they do their best to get Knox's dream back on track and at the same time their friendship turns into more. Just when everything seems to be going the way they want, Robert makes an appearance. He makes an offer to get Knox's show back on track and although Gray is very patient and understanding, he finds that they are settling back into their old routine. He begins to feel like a third wheel again and Robert's behaviour doesn't help. Will the situation be resolved or will things go back to what they were?

I absolutely love Gray's honesty, his kindness and his unconditional love. Knox is determined and focused. Robert, well is Robert! Although there is a lot of angst and friction towards the end, the author turns everything around beautifully to give the desired HEA. Brodie is the only one of the Bowie brothers who hasn't been struck by Cupid's arrow and it will be interesting to see what's in store for him.

I was kindly issued with an eARC and the views expressed are my personal opinion.

And don’t miss the first two standalones titles in The Bad Boyfriends Series, THE WORLD’S WORST BOYFRIEND and THE HEARTLESS BOYFRIEND! Grab your copies today!

4 Stars

This is a well portrayed and easy to read story. It's funny, romantic with a little angst.

Diana is the ward of Cole's best friend and has sworn to spinsterhood because she believes in her cause. She does her best not to draw attention to herself.

Will they give up their dreams or can they find a compromise where they can both have what they want?

This story has a nice flow and is pretty compelling. The main characters are lovable as are the supporting ones. A great start to this new series.

4 Stars

Having read the Poseidon Warriors, I was eager to visit Atlantis once again. This new addition didn't disappoint. It's a worthwhile adventure.

Atlantis is no longer under water and other paranormal species are living amongst the humans, this first installment is very interesting, indeed.

Flynn returns to Atlantis after having lived on earth for a few years and finds that he has to go through the bureaucracy even though, he is an Atlantean. In the process he becomes one of Denan's Dozen. A group of elite soldiers who protect humans.

Eva is a bartender who is always looking over her shoulder for fear of being found by her ex. The first time that she meets Flynn, she experiences feelings that she hasn't felt before. Flynn is just as struck, but he is on a mission to stop the Hells Dark Angels from their dark objective. There is a brawl where he protects Eva and finds that they have a common enemy. Will they work together to stop evil or will Eva keep running?

I like the premise of this story. It has a bit of everything from the paranormal world. It's also sexy and romantic. The two other members of the team are intriguing, especially Griffin who makes me wonder if he is another version of Alaric who is one of my favourite characters. I would definitely like to read the rest of Denan's Dozen.

Alyssa Day is the pen name (and dark and tortured alter ego) of author Alesia Holliday. As Alyssa, she is a New York Times and USA Today best-selling author, and she writes the Warriors of Poseidon and Cardinal Witches paranormal romance series and the Tiger’s Eye Mysteriesa paranormal mystery series.  As Alesia, she writes comedies that make readers snort things out of their noses, and is the author of the award-winning memoir about military families during war-time deployments: Email to the Front. She has won many awards for her writing, including Romance Writers of America’s prestigious RITA award for outstanding romance fiction and the RT Book Reviews Reviewer’s Choice Award for Best Paranormal Romance novel of 2012.

Alyssa is a diehard Buckeye who graduated summa cum laude from Capital University Law School and practiced as a trial lawyer in multi-million dollar litigation for several years before coming to her senses and letting the voices in her head loose on paper. She has lived all over the country, including Florida, Mississippi, Washington state, Ohio, Wisconsin, Oklahoma, Colorado, Illinois, Texas, Alaska, Michigan, Virginia—and she has lived all over the world: the Philippines, Turkey, and Japan. She loves to travel, and just got back from a cruise to Cozumel (lovely! Wine on our balcony!) and an adventure with a group of high school art students to London, Paris (my favorite city in the world!) and Rome. She currently lives somewhere near an ocean with her Navy Guy husband, two kids, and any number of rescue dogs.

Once upon a time, a wild boy fell in love with a sly girl

From high school sweethearts to a criminal King and Queen, Cross Donati and Catherine Marcellos love became a forceeven destructive, it was unstoppable.

They were meant to be.
Even when everything stood in the way.

Fall in love with the saga of Cross + Catherine, and their story of a love revered, and a life lived so unruly.

The Saga: Cross + Catherine is a boxset of the full Cross + Catherine series featuring the full-length novels Always, Revere, and Unruly as well as the series novellas, Cross + Catherine: The Companion and Naz & Roz.

5 ⭐🌟⭐🌟⭐

Cross and Catherine were introduced in the bonus episode of the Filthy Marcellos complete set, and I have been curious every since. Their love story is extraordinary!

Cross is Calisto Donati's son. He has a no nonsense approach and speaks his mind. If anything, he is comfortable with what some some consider to be arrogance.

Catherine is Dante Marcello's daughter. She is a good girl for most of the time, but she has a tendency of being sneaky. Depending on the company.

Cross is nearly fifteen when he meets thirteen year old Catherine. What starts with an innocent relationship leads to so much more in their late teens. He doesn't change much, since he already knows what he wants in life. She doesn't quite know what she really wants. On the one hand, she wants to be good for daddy and on the other hand, she is fascinated by her mother's activities. This becomes the root of their problems but, he is always there to catch her when she falls.

Something bad happens to her at the age of sixteen and instead of opening up, she finds other ways to cope. Destructive ways!

They are so good together when they are "on", but even when they are "off" as a couple, she can always rely on him. He would do anything for her. She goes on a self destructing bender and as hard as it is, he finds himself with the only option which might just help her. She lives in a dark place and has to be willing to see the light.

They are the perfect couple, yet not perfect individuals. Not that anyone is perfect, but there is a limit to everything. It's superbly portrayed and the poignancy of the emotions tore my heart apart. Quite the love story! I can't wait to see what transpires in Revere.

Revere is an amazing story about two adolescents who are now adults. It encompasses three generations of the same family and takes us down memory lane.

Cross is settled in his role with the mafia. He has grown up and his principles remain the same. There is one piece missing in his life.

Catherine has learnt to stand on her own two feet, but some old habits die hard. Pleasing others isn't always that easy.

It's been seven years since Cross and Catherine saw each other. So much has changed, but some things stay the same. Inadvertently, they have to cross paths and the past doesn't appear to be so far away. There have been misunderstandings which could now be a barrier. When the lies and deceits come to the surface, they only cause more hurt and anger. True love never dies, though!

Seeing the three generations of the Marcellos and how they have evolved is quite something. Cal's past is not easy to forget under the current circumstances and Cross maturity shines. In his own arrogant way! Can't help but love him. There are some strong messages within this story. It's soulful with potent emotions. Cross and Catherine face some strong oppositions as well as dangerous situations. Good intentions can sometimes be more damaging. I have loved each and everyone of the stories in this series, but this one is something special. It hits all the right spots and this incredible love story will not be easy to forget. And.... there is more. The preview of the next instalment has piqued my interest and I look forward to see what transpires next.

Embarking on this journey with Cross and Catherine has been sheer delight. Watching them grow from children, to adolescents and then into adulthood is quite an experience. A phenomenal couple!

Cross is the the Donati boss and he hasn't changed much. He is still loyal, responsible, loving and beautifully arrogant.

Catherine is making good progress in her business, but still has a lot to learn.

Five years later and their love goes from strength to strength despite everything that's thrown at them. Juggling their time between their personal life and their business life is not easy. Whenever they think that they might have a reprieve something else crops up.

Cross is suddenly faced with a situation which puts the whole family in danger. He does the honourable thing and stands by his men. Respect! Things get out of hands, but he is no quitter. He will find a solution.

Catherine is going over her own stumbling blocks. She finds herself having to address some difficult issues with no real back up. She is no quitter either! As hard as it might be, she will resolve these problems.

With their additional personal responsibilities, they crave a work life balance. Things get harder before they get better, but they make the most of the time they have together. Will they be able to relax eventually and enjoy what they have?

It's refreshing to see that Cross and Dante have come such a long way, after everything that's gone before. There are a lot of changes. Danger is aplenty. One thing doesn't change though. The depth of Cross and Catherine's love. Remarkable! Cece is a handful, but fun with it. I have enjoyed every single part of this trilogy, and sad in a way that it has come to an end. The epilogue is magnificent. This is a love story to remember. Fa-bu-lous darlings!

Naz +Roz

An amazing finish to the Cross + Catherine series. It's a well rounded novella about finding "the one" and coming to terms with new feelings!

Naz, son of darling Cross Donati is a chip off the old block with very little to separate them. Naz is a born genius.

Ros is a pianist prodigy, daughter to Cross' best friend Zeke, and sister to Luca, Naz's best friend.

Although Naz and Ros have known each other from an early age, lightning doesn't strike until they are teenagers. It's instant love when they meet at a family event. They form an incredible bond whilst struggling with their new found feelings. They don't have much time to explore as Naz's work takes him all over the place and Ros is under pressure with her life long ambition of becoming a recognised pianist. Can they find a balance to meet their commitments and keep their beautiful relationship?

This short story is very well portrayed with a solid and intense plot. Despite their young age, Naz and Ros show common sense and are sensible about their decisions. Best of all is Naz's understanding and support. An adorable love story which ends beautifully.

Saying goodbye to Cross and Catherine is rather emotional, but hopefully there will be more of the Donatis' next generation with maybe a glimpse of Cross and Catherine thrown in!

I was kindly issued with an eARC and the views expressed are my personal opinion.

Moonlight Sins (#1 De Vincent) Jennifer Armentrout

Jennifer Armentrout

Publication Date
30 January 2018
Mystery Romance

New York Times bestselling author Jennifer L. Armentrout delivers the unforgettable story of a woman whose new life has just begun—but may end in murder...

Julia Hughes has always played it safe until she learned a very painful lesson. Now Julia’s starting over with a job in the Louisiana bayou—and a scorching encounter with a stranger, only to discover he’s Lucian de Vincent... her new employer. The de Vincent brothers share a massive fortune and a dark reputation. Julia cares for their troubled sister, but a menacing presence in the mansion—and the ever-present temptation of Lucian—prove dangerously distracting.

Lucian’s grandmother claimed de Vincent men fall in love once—and hard. Apparently, it’s Lucian’s turn. Julia’s compassionate care of his twin makes Lucian want to lay himself bare. But some secrets are better for Julia not to know.

The recent “suicide” of Lucian’s father is the latest in a string of deaths on the estate. Someone is eliminating the de Vincents. And the best way to get to Lucian may be through Julia...

4 Stars

This book builds up slowly, but it's a fascinating and unusual story. The mystery surrounding the main characters makes for a compulsive read.

Lucian is a prominent figure in society, and although he attracts women's attention, he doesn't do relationships. He is charismatic, but there is a darkness surrounding his family, which makes the story even more compulsive and intriguing.

Lucia is a nurse who has a tendency of over thinking every situation in her life. Her failed marriage has left her with little or no confidence in men. She likes familiarity and yet the one time that she decides on a change, her life is turned around completely. This will either make or break her.

On her last day in her current job, she attends a going away party with her best friend and colleagues. This is where she is approached by the most handsome, sexy and magnetic stranger. They chat away comfortably, which is also unusual for her. He ends up taking her home and things don't turn out quite as she expects. It doesn’t really matter as she is starting her new job the next day. What she encounters on reporting for duty has her dumbstruck and angry. Will she walk away for this once in a lifetime opportunity, or will she forget her anger and tackle this new job?

Lucian is broken, but what Julia makes him feel is totally alien to him. She is just as attracted to him, but they are from different worlds. Besides, the tragedies and the mysteries surrounding his family confuse her.

I like the way the story slowly builds up to a climatic finish. Although, part of the mystery isn't a complete surprise, the full extent is well thought out and beautifully presented. All of the characters have an air of mystery surrounding them, and except for the occasional glimpse of their personality, nothing gives away as to whom they really are.

I found the mystery and suspense to be totally captivating. The romance is very well portrayed. I am now curious about Dev, Gabe and the Senator. It's rather refreshing to read an interesting storyline where the scenes are very descriptive without losing sight of what's really happening. I thoroughly enjoyed this read.
