Regretfully Yours (#2 Mafia Romance) Sunniva Dee

Sunniva Dee

Publication Date
17 April 2018

Adult Mafia Romance

Our relationship was a sin, they said, but how can it be a sin to love so deeply?

She shouldn’t have listened to them.
Shouldn’t have left us behind.

You can’t help whom you love, and without Silvina, I didn't give a damn.

A mafia prince without a cause becomes a rebel with nothing to lose.

My brother owned an adult entertainment studio.

He wanted me nowhere near it. Thankfully, his competition did.
I auditioned. Landed a contract.

It's how I took my sins to a new level, my up-yours to la famiglia.

Until Silvina was kidnapped, and my world was thrown upside down.

This is one of the best forbidden love romance that I have ever read. It's mesmerising, romantic and humorous. The twists and turns sure kept me on tenterhooks.

Giole is a rebellious mafia prince and a student who is totally enamoured with someone who is out of his reach. He is being forced to suppress his feelings in view of the possible ramitifactions, should they become involved.

Silvina is Giole's first cousin and a student who comes from a mafia family, therefore has to abide by the famiglia's rules.

Giole is very possessive and protective of Silvina. He can hardly restrain himself when anyone makes a move on her. Unbeknown to him, one of her admirers is set on upsetting the apple cart and he also has ulterior motives.

In one of his rebellious act, Giole starts something that has a horrible knock on effect on him and his family. Silvina is the main target!

When Silvina is abducted, Giole goes out of his mind and family rules be damned. He won't leave any stone unturned until she is safe. During that time, she discovers that her abductor is completely unbalanced, unlike the person she thought he was. He is violent, cold and calculated. Knowing what he does now, can Giole get to her before it's too late?

The characters in this novel are very well developed. Scarily so, in some cases. Giole shows his drive and determination to save Silvina. Despite, the horrific treatment that she has to go through, Silvina shows her strength of character and quick thinking. The plot is very well crafted and gradually builds up until it becomes impossible to put the book down. The twist at the end comes as a complete surprise and the ending itself is beautiful. Where there is a will, there is a way. Nothing is impossible! A compelling and addictive story.

I was kindly issued with an eARC and the views expressed are my personal opinion.

I'm a reader, a lover of everything beautifully written no matter the genre.

As an author, I pen flawed characters, I seek the flip side where the soul hides. Once there, I want to be pulled out of my comfort zone by stories taking on a life of their own.

I've written paranormal and young adult. I've done contemporary romance verging on erotica, and I've dabbled in supernatural mystery. But my heart is rooted in new adult of the true kind: young adult all grown up, with conflicts and passions that are familiar to college-aged readers and us who remember those days like they happened last night.

Let me Love You by Jessica Jayne - Review Tour

Let Me Love You
Jessica Jayne
Publication date: December 18th 2017
Genres: Adult, Contemporary, Romance

Twenty-three year old Ren Haynes returns home after graduating college with two goals–start his engineering career and claim the heart of his parents’ thirty-one year old divorced neighbor, Stacey Williams.

Stacey is nursing her broken heart and shattered ego. Not only did her ex-husband have an affair, he got the woman pregnant. Picking up the pieces of her life isn’t easy, so when Ren taps into her need to feel desired again, she finds herself in a position she never imagined.

Can Ren help to rebuild her confidence and convince her that age is just a number?

3 Stars

Does age really matter when it comes to love? The heart knows what it wants and after all, it only matters to the couple concerned, not everyone else's perception!

Ren has just graduated and has taken an engineering job in his home town with his focus on earning the love of a woman eight years his senior.

Stacey is an author whose husband left her for a younger woman. After ten years of marriage, her confidence is shattered.

Ren has crushed on Stacey for as long as he can remember. Only, it's no longer a crush. He wants it all. He has experienced the college life and is no stranger to sex. In his case, one night stands. There is something in Stacey that draws him and he has never been more certain of anything in his life. She never saw it coming, but is surprised at her own reaction to him.

After the initial rush, she goes in denial after what she has been through with her ex husband. She is also friends with his parents and worries about their perception and her reputation. He is convinced that they have a future together, but can he convince her?

The chemistry between Ren and Stacey is off the charts and they prove that age doesn't really matter between two people in love. This is an easy to read sensual story where love conquers. It would appeal to the romantic at hearts.

I was kindly issued with an eARC and the views expressed are my personal opinion.

I enjoyed reading the first part of the story, but I began to have mix feelings with the various twists that kept coming and the end left me speechless.

Cameron is ex mob, now a police officer, but once in the mob, cutting ties completely isn't always an option.

Joci is an attorney who has left her previous firm to start her own business with her best friend. She seems to have it all and then complications start to materialise under different guises.

Cameron is madly in love with Joci and is prepared to do anything to keep her by his side. He is being held to ransom by the mob and is keeping secrets from Joci, until Cameron's partner, Quinn confirms her suspicions. It gets more complicated when the past comes back from the dead. It looks like there has been a lot of manipulations going on.

When Joci's life is at risk, Cameron is faced with yet more hard truths. He has been played! This situation leads to more complications where the most unusual and rare phenomenon occurs. There is confusion all round, but Cameron and Joci come to a decision. The most logical one, if they want a happy ending. It doesn't end there though! More of the ugly past rears its ugly head and this is where it ends and suddenly everything is threatened once again. What happens next?

I like the relationship between Cameron and Joci, but her past puts so much pressure on their relationship. His love for her is unconditional and he readily comes to terms with this most unconventional situation. I didn't enjoy this part of the story so much as it sort of taints what should be a happy event. All in all, it's a well portrayed complex love story and would appeal to those who like a story with a difference and lots of twists to keep them on their toes.

I have was kindly issued with an eARC and the views expressed are my personal opinion.

“Can we go home, please? I need to fit in a quick canapรฉs before heading to the office.” She yawned, suddenly drained from the busy morning.

Crossing his long arms over his chest, Cameron shook his head. “No way. You’re not going to work after what you’ve been through. You need to take it easy.”

“No, I need to go to work,” she argued, her face heating up.

“The hell you do.” His low voice rumbled, scaring a passing orderly.

Realizing fighting through this wasn’t the best course of action, Joci unclenched her fisted hands. Slanting eyes over him, she sighed at his chaotic curls, from the wind or pushing his fingers through it she wasn't sure. The holes where his nose and eyebrow rings used to sit glared at her, fleetingly making her wish they were in place once more. His jaw was set bu this lips were pouty, an irresistible sight if she ever saw one. The adamant expression in his dark brown eyes siphoned all anger from her. He was concerned for her health, but there was something else lying behind his tone. His reflection sent her back to their childhood in Ohio. He’d puckered a similar face when they disagreed as kids. No wonder he always got his way, the ass.

He wasn’t wrong in his apprehension, however, letting him win this argument wouldn’t happen. He loved her, which meant he knew she was as stubborn as him. They were a perfect match from the start. Bullheaded andmornery. Work would always be at the top of her list and he knew it better than anyone from personal experience.

Stepping to his sulking position against the wall, Joci slipped her hands around his waist, her fingers grazing each of the devices hanging from the police utility belt.

“Cam, all this excitement drained me. I need a bit of cuddle time, and I bet you know the perfect guy.”

His face released its strained hold and his lips slackened.

Beaming up at him, she tilted her head to the right.

“Maybe you know a guy, or maybe you are the guy?”

His chin lowered until she was touching noses with him.

“I am the guy,” he fiercely replied.

Joci snaked her hand up his spine to the back of his head.

Compelling his neck toward her, she locked her gaze with his stormy mahogany one. “The only guy.”

A tiny smile broke across his cheeks. “Then there’s no place I’d rather be.”

He leaned forward, imprinting his lips to her for eternity.

The taste of mint clung to his breath, luring her to kiss him until she explored every facet of his mouth. His tongue tangoed with hers, causing adrenaline to spike through her body. Pressing harder against his mouth, she gasped when her back carefully hit the wall. Anyone could witness their brazen embrace, but she didn’t care. She needed his lips on her right now. His teeth nipped her lower lip. And if he wasn’t careful, she’d lug him to the nearest supply closet and bar the door just to show him how much she needed him.

When he finally eased away, Joci wasn’t sure if she was breathing on her own. He had this effect on her when she least expected but sorely craved it.

“I’m glad you’re safe,” he whispered, his brown eyes etched

with leftover concern. “Promise you’ll never leave.” His hands rubbed the protruding stomach between them. “I can’t do this without you.”

Kissing him hard, Joci hoped he felt a molecule of the havoc his lips caused in her. “I promise.”

At Cameron’s relaxed sigh, she snuggled into him. A movement behind them distracted her as he straightened. She couldn’t see who was spying, only recognized a shock of red hair as they moved to the exit.

Born of Darkness (#1 Hunter Legacy) Lara Adrian

Lara Adrian

Publication Date
27 March 2018

Adult Paranormal Romance

Midnight Breed - Hunter Legacy Book 1

New York Times bestselling author Lara Adrian introduces the first novel in a thrilling new vampire romance series set in the darkly seductive Midnight Breed paranormal story world.

As a former assassin in the Hunter program, Asher is one of a small group of Gen One Breed vampires who survived the horrors of a madman’s laboratory and the cruelty of the training that made him one of the most lethal beings in existence. Now, twenty years after his escape from those hellish origins, Asher is a loner whose heart is as cold as his skills are merciless. But when he thwarts a killing under way in the middle of the desert outside Las Vegas, Asher meets a beautiful woman who draws him into a deadly game against powerful enemies—one that will test both his skills and his tarnished honor.

Naomi Fallon is used to getting out of dicey situations. Orphaned as a child after her mother’s murder, she didn’t survive twenty-six years on the street without using up most of her nine lives. But when her latest caper lands her in the Mojave against a Vegas gangster’s henchman, she’s certain her number is up.

Then he appears—immense, brutal, and far from human. Naomi’s never needed anyone’s help, least of all one of the Breed. But after one risk too many, only a man with Asher’s skills can keep her safe. Yet the solitary, seductively handsome vampire has enemies of his own, and a secret that will not only shatter her faith in him but her heart, proving what she’s feared all along—that trust is only an illusion and love may be the sharpest weapon of all.

A terrific start to the Hunter Legacy Series. The after effect of being under Dragos' regime is disturbing, but shows the resilience of the Hunters.

Asher is one Dragos' assassin and after being unleashed from that terrible life, he chose a quiet and humble path in the middle of nowhere.

Naomi was orphaned at a very young age and after going through endless care homes, she chose to live on the streets where she befriended Michael. They are now best friends and have a common goal. To help children in need of care.

After running his errands one evening, Asher witnesses a potential murder and he doesn't hesitate to intervene. Having saved the day, he intends taking the victim where she can get proper care, until he notices the mark that identifies her. Being breed, he is obliged to protect her. Naomi isn't too happy about the situation and she insists on returning home. She has something important to do. Ruin the villain who changed her life, but her plan backfires and she can only rely on one person to protect her. Asher!

Her actions lead to a brutal situation and puts her and her protรฉgรฉs in terrible danger. Her enemy wants what's owed to him. In the process, she discovers Asher's past and this threatens the love which has started to blossom. Will they come out of this situation unscathed?

I really enjoyed this Midnight Breed spin off. Naomi's strength and caring personality are admirable. Asher's humility and his way of life are commendable. Their love and passion are palpable. This novel is nicely paced with well developed characters and a solid plot. Well worth reading.

Maybe this Time (#2 Whiskey and Weddings) Nicole McLaughlin

Nicole McLaughlin

Publication Date
27 February 2018

Contemporary Romance

Jen Mackenzie has been knocked down more than a few times, but she always gets up and makes sure she has the last word. It’s the reason she now considers herself equal parts self-sufficient and free-spirit. But since losing her job and trying to help her mother beat cancer, real life―and her occasional careless choices―have begun to catch up with her. Her one saving grace: The Stag, a boutique distillery that has become Kansas City’s go-to wedding venue. The only catch: One of the owners, TJ Laughlin, happens to be the one man who somehow manages to make Jen feel inadequate.

TJ has secretly had a thing for Jen since high school. Now, as her new boss, it’s a daily struggle between revealing his feelings and wringing her beautiful neck. Only one thing is for certain: he can’t stand idly by and watch the woman he cares for struggle. She may be convinced that accepting TJ’s help is a weakness. But all he sees in Jen is beauty and strength, inside and out. As things finally heat up between them, can TJ find a way to convince Jen that love is about give and take―and having it all, together?

The prologue of this book is set in a high school environment, then is forwarded to twelve years later.

Jen comes from a poor family and is not the most popular girl in school because of her fashion choice. This changes when she gets a break in a school musical.

TJ comes from a privileged family, but considers himself to be the black sheep of the family. He works hard to prove himself and is part owner of a distinguished distillery.

TJ and Jen have been at odds with each other all through high school. They had a crush on each other, but this was disguised by acting with contempt towards each other. When Jen loses her job teaching in a theatre, she applies for a job in the distillery, unaware that TJ is a partner in the business. They spend their time rubbing each other the wrong way, but they are only kidding themselves. The attraction is obvious to everyone else.

Jen doesn't think that she is good enough for TJ and he is more or less certain that she dislikes him. Watching her flirt with other men gets on his nerves, until he plucks up the courage to make a move. A crisis leaves Jen stranded, and TJ is only too happy to assist. Their relationship starts to blossom, but their lack of communication sets everything in jeopardy. When Jen gets the chance to realise her dream, she takes it, leaving everything she knows behind. Will TJ let her go or will he try to compromise in order to give them a chance at a life together?

I like the main concept of the story and the "opposite attracts" element. TJ and Jen are good together when they put their doubts aside and go with their feelings. I wasn't keen on all the "dancing around" and behaving like teenagers instead of two adults in their thirties. Otherwise, it's a lighthearted romance which ends on a good note despite all the trials and tribulations.

I was kindly issued with an eARC and the views expressed are my personal opinion.

Nicole wrote her first full length book (6 pages) about the birth of her baby sister, when she was eight years old. She only finished it because her mother bribed her with a Rick Astley cassette tape. Sad, but true. Now her characters are what keep her writing and her subject matter has gotten a little bit deeper and  a lot more romantic. She resides in a small town outside of Kansas City with her husband and three sons. When she isn’t writing, she’s a wedding and portrait photographer, loves to cook, and watch historical dramas or documentaries.

Reading this second chance romance made me giddy with so much angst and uncertainties. It demanded my attention from beginning to end.

Fin is the youngest of the Bowie brothers. He thrives on extreme sports and somehow, he feels that he has a point to prove. This drives him to make one of the worst decisions of his life.

Callie left her hometown with a broken heart to embark in the world of art in New York. The break up caused her to reinvent herself to achieve her ambition.

Six years after their break up, Fin sees his chance to put things right with Callie at her brother's wedding. One of his team members has an accident right before he is due to arrive at the rehearsals and in his haste to get there, he sends an innocent text of reassurance. When this is posted on social media, it goes viral, earning him the title of The World's Worst Boyfriend.

Callie is stunned by this development and despite the fact that she might have moved on, she feels the pinch. Fin is shocked by her transformation, but his love for her burns even brighter. After the way, they parted, she no longer trusts him and the media scandal doesn't help his cause of winning her back. She tries to avoid him, but an unfortunate situation forces them to face each other daily. The whole social media affair has given her the chance to prove herself as a curator and ironically, he is lumbered with helping her with the project! Could it be any worse? There is more at stake than just his reputation.

Fin doesn't hide the fact that he would do anything for Callie. He accepts that he made a mistake and that his life without her has been miserable. He is very giving, loving and patient. Callie has jumped to the wrong conclusions through her hurt feelings and she is a little too harsh on him at times. Six years later and their feelings haven't waned in the slightest. Unfortunately, circumstances bring about doubts and uncertainties which could ruin their chances of getting back together.

I love Fin's caring personality. He is devoted to his brothers and those who need his help. Callie can be irritating at times, but she does have her good qualities too. I like the way they eventually work through their differences and how everything falls nicely into place. I like the ending, but wasn't expecting the bomb that was dropped and I am very curious about what transpires from this unexpected occurrence. It's a beautiful start to this new series. A compelling and addictive read.

I was kindly issued with an eARC and the views expressed are my personal opinion.

About Erika Kelly

Award-winning author Erika Kelly has been spinning romantic tales all her life--she just didn't know it. Raised on the classics, she didn't discover romantic fiction until later in life. From that moment on, she's been devouring the genre and has found her true voice as an author. Over three decades she's written poems, screenplays, plays, short stories, and all kinds of women's fiction novels. Married to the love of her life and raising four children, she's lived in two countries and seven states, but give her pen and paper, a stack of good books, and a steaming mug of vanilla chai latte and she can make her home anywhere.
