Mixed up Love by Natasha Madison - Release Blitz

When my business partner asked me to do him a favor, I had no idea he was sending me on a blind date his mother arranged for him. I walked in the bar, saw the woman drinking her third martini, and knew I was in for an eventful night.

After the unexpected second date, she didn't know my real name or who I really was. By that time, the lie was too far gone, and I wanted her too much to admit the truth.

It's not every day you find out your ex-boyfriend is engaged.

I shouldn't have agreed to the blind date. My mother insisted, and I wasn’t in any position to turn down a night out.

I will admit, I definitely shouldn't have ordered that fourth martini before said blind date even arrived.

The man turned out to be swoon worthy, handsome, condescending—a perfect distraction. Then I found out he was a liar.

I've never been in over my head to this degree.

Then again, I've never been in love.

I pull up to the front door, and the valet meets me at my door once I stop. “Good evening, sir,” he says once I open my door.

“Yeah, I won’t be here long,” I tell him as I get out, not bothering to take off my sunglasses when I hand him the keys.

“No worries, sir. It will be here when you are ready,” he says, handing me the ticket for later. I put it in the inside pocket of my suit jacket. I walk inside to the hostess table, where a woman who looks like she is eighteen stands smiling.

“How may I help you?” she asks sweetly. I stop and look around to see if I might recognize the woman I’m here to meet, even though I’ve never met her. I spot a couple of women at the bar, but I instinctively know they aren’t her. I also check for exits. It’s not my fault; it’s just instilled in me.

Looking to the left, I don’t see anyone sitting alone, but then I look to the right, and I see her. I don’t know why I know it’s her, but I just do. With curly long blond hair, she downs a martini, then picks up another one and brings it to her mouth. I spot a waiter walking with two more martinis on his tray, and I’m not surprised when I see him approaching her table. “Great,” I say under my breath. “I found her,” I tell the hostess and start walking toward the table. She spots me and watches my every move. Luckily, the glasses I’m wearing stop her from seeing my eyes.

The closer I get to her, the more my pulse speeds up. What the fuck? This is weird. I look around maybe to see if something else is piquing my interest or maybe I spotted something to elevate my pulse, but no, it’s her. The fact that a gorgeous woman is sitting by herself and drinking like a fish is enough to get any man’s adrenaline pumping. Isn’t it?

“Are you Laney?” I ask, taking off my glasses, and my gray eyes finally meet her blue ones. She opens her mouth, expecting, I think, something to come out, but nothing does. I continue looking around to see if anyone is watching her, and it’s no surprise that I spot two guys at the bar sizing her up.

“Here are two more.” The waiter smiles at her, putting two more glasses down on the table and taking the two now empty ones away. She laughs nervously, and I want to reach out and trip him when he walks away.

“It isn’t what it looks like.” Her soft voice breaks me out of my plan, and I turn back to her as she smiles at me, causing my heartbeat to skyrocket. The collar of my shirt suddenly feels tight, but it’s not even buttoned.

“Really? I find it hard to believe,” I finally say. Looking around again, I spot the same two guys in suits sitting at the bar watching her. This time, one of them spots me and looks back down at his drink. “It looks like you’re sitting here waiting for something bad to happen.” I pull out the chair and sit in front of her.

“Um.” She still doesn’t say anything.

A blind date between two reluctant individuals who think that they would turn up, have a drink and make their escapes. As it happens fate has different ideas!

Hunter is ex SEAL and runs a security company with a group of friends. He has flings, but doesn't date.

Laney has her dream job and hasn't dated since she found out that her then boyfriend was a cheat and a liar.

Hunter's friend, Anthony asks him to go on a blind date arranged by his mother. Hunter reluctantly agrees as his friend has other plans. Laney has just discovered that her ex is engaged and agrees to the blind date. Just the distraction that she needs. For once, she lets her hair down and indulges in one too many "refreshments"! Her date arrives when she is on her third and it's no way to make an impression. Does she really care? Most likely not.

Hunter starts to lecture her on her behaviour and soon finds out that she is no push over. This intrigues him, and he takes her to his favourite restaurant. Although, their first impressions were far from desirable, they enjoy the so called date. The first leads to a second and they quite like each other's company. Neither of them has ever felt so comfortable in the company of a date. They are both smitten, but there is a problem. Hunter is still acting under false pretenses! What happens when Laney uncovers his true identity and the lie?

This novel is fairly easy to read and although it's not insta love, the development of the romance is rather fast. Hunter is overbearing when it comes to safety, but the reasons behind his fears sort of justify his behaviour. Laney is dependable, but she makes rash decisions. They work pretty well as a couple. It's a light read with a little humour.

DishonoAdred by Bethany-Kris - Blog Tour

by Bethany-Kris
Publication Date: August 6, 2018
Genres: Adult, Organized Crime, Mafia, Romantic Suspense

Sex is his weapon.
Power is her drug.

Caesar Accardo is gasoline. Mostly harmless while stable, but Aria holds the match to set the dishonored Cosa Nostra prince on fire in more ways than one. And if he burns down everything in his path because of it, so be it.

The problem is  she just wasn't prepared for all of him.

Aria De Rose is a hurricane. Amazing from afar, but destructive up close. Caesar keeps getting pulled into the Camorra queen's plans in her effort to gain power, but he's a better player than she knows.

The thing is  women like her are the reason why rules are meant to be broken.

Philadelphia isn't ready for the game these two are playing, the sacrifices they make might not be worth it in the end, and someone will always lose in a war.

They're broken, so very vicious, and they are not the good guys. But for every villain in the world, there's a monster at his back who made him that way.

And monsters like those hide in plain sight.

Note: This is a standalone romance with content that some might find triggering. Be warned, and read with caution.

5 Stars

Wow! This author never ceases to amaze me. Dishonored is a fitting title to this novel where the two main characters are no "goodie two shoes". It's what makes this story unique and spellbinding.

Caesar is the son of a Cosa Nostra boss. Unlike every made man, he does everything in his power to go against what they represent. He is a broken soul who doesn't give a toss about what anyone else thinks and somehow he gets away with all his "misdeeds"!

Aria is from a different organisation where the rules are totally different. Women should know their place! On the surface, she plays the role well, but she has an ultimate motive. To gain power and find her freedom. She can be deadly!

Part of Aria's plan is to get an "in" in the Cosa Nostra. Who better to manipulate than Caesar? After all, his reputation precedes him. Their first meeting is very well orchestrated by Aria, but in the process she gets more than she bargained for. For the first time in his life, Caesar feels more than sexual attraction. Aria is something else. They can't resist each other even when Caesar finds that he has been played. He wants her and wants to kill her at the same time. They are both cunning, and now that they are aware of the reasons behind their behavior, will they come to an agreement to end the conflicts between the two organisations and explore their irresistible attraction?

This sensational story is souldestroying and full of mystery. The reasons for Aria's behaviour are horrific, but Caesar's past is deplorable. What they both went through turned them into who they are today, but once again love proves to be the best healer.

USA Today and International and bestselling author J.C. Valentine is back with the latest in her captivating, enigmatic, and rousing world of the Spartan Riders MC

They've been through hell and back and have the scars to prove it.

Kade Moose Hunter doesn't tolerate drama. He's cocky, unapologetic, and all about the quiet side of life.

That's why Mouse fits him so well.

Angel Mouse Grace isn't like the other women hanging around the club. She's sweet and gentle, and when Moose gets her engines revving, her passion burns bright. She's the yin to his yang, and Moose is almost certain she's the one, but life is never that easy for a Spartan.

The catch? Their town is falling apart.

A cesspool of crime and addiction, the Spartans face yet another challenge: confront crime lord Manuel Contreras and risk war, or worse, death. When Angel's kid sister rolls into town and takes a shine to the Spartans' mortal enemy, Moose is torn between doing what's best for his family, and what's best for his love life.

Will he be able to strike a balance, or lose everyone he cares about in the process?

*NOTE* COCKY can be read as a STANDALONE! Although a part of the Spartan Riders series, COCKY features a brand new couple, therefore, can be read as a standalone!

4 Stars

This brings a sparkling finish to the Spartan Riders trials and tribulations.

Although Moose and Mouse are at the centre of this story, loose ends pertaining to other couples are nicely tied up.

Moose and Mouse are getting deeper into their hot relationship, but feelings are begenning to surface. Neither of them expect this development and have to decide on what they really want out of life.

Rena, Mouse's younger sister who is always in trouble makes a surprise visit, but omits to tell her sister the real reason why she is in town. She wants a clean start and everything comes with a price. Sleeping with the enemy is easy, but falling for him is a different story.

Heath has his own romantic feature. An interaction over toothpaste turns into something more. What he doesn't know is that she is the enemy's daughter, but the heart knows what it wants.

Talia and Taco are still estranged and the truth about her reason for leaving comes to light, but can he forgive and forget?

This story encompasses the lives of the other couples in the Spartan Riders series and ends on a positive and hopeful note. They have achieved what they have been striving for. A worthy finish to this encapsulating mission of the Spartan Riders.

I was kindly issued with an eARC and the views expressed are my personal opinion.

Being Alpha (#7 Alpha Girl) Aileen Erin - Excerpt Tour

Being Alpha
Aileen Erin
(Alpha Girl #7)
Published by: Ink Monster LLC
Publication date: February 13th 2018
Genres: Paranormal, Young Adult

From USA Today Bestselling Author Aileen Erin

For the first time since Tessa met Dastien, life is quiet. The evil witch, Luciana, is six glorious feet under, St. Ailbe’s is closed due to human trespassers, and people are finally getting used to the fact that supernaturals exist in the world. It seems like the perfect time for a honeymoon.

After traveling to Dastien’s house in Provence, clubbing in Paris, and attending Meredith and Donovan’s Full Moon Ceremony in Ireland, Tessa and Dastien head to the Caribbean. Their trip is turning out to be the honeymoon that fantasies are made of-sunset cruises, long walks on the beach, and every romantic cliché you can imagine. Tessa couldn’t be happier. Except that Tessa’s visions are on the fritz. She hopes that means that nothing is brewing. That everything is quiet because all is well. But Tessa’s never been one to assume anything.

When she’s magically attacked and nearly dies, Tessa knows she can’t ignore the signs anymore. Something huge is going on. As much as she doesn’t want to call an end to their six-week honeymoon, it’s time to head back to Texas.

Whoever messed with Tessa is in for a rude awakening. Because if there’s one thing fighting rogue witches and werewolves has taught her, it’s how to be Alpha.

“Breathe!” Dastien screamed, but his voice sounded a million miles away.

The world shook, but I didn’t know where I was or what was happening.

Something hit my chest over and over. Each slam rocked me.

I wanted the pain to stop. I needed to breathe. But I couldn’t.

Why couldn’t I breathe?

There was cursing in French. It sounded louder than his words before.

It felt like bricks were thrown into my chest. I tried to yell for it to stop, but then I was coughing.

The world tilted and spun.

Water gushed out of my mouth.

“That’s it. That’s it. Get it out.” Dastien’s voice shook as he rubbed a hand up and down my back.

My whole body heaved until nothing else could possibly be left in me.

When I was done, I collapsed back into the sand exhausted as if I’d run back to back marathons. Every muscle ached and throbbed. My throat was on fire, and I wasn’t sure how I was still alive.

“Hang on.” Dastien disappeared for a fraction of a second and then helped me sit up. “Just a sip,” he said as he tipped a water bottle to my lips.

One sip was enough. I’d had enough water for the next year. My heart was pounding, and I couldn’t believe what had just happened. “Did I drown?”

“Yes, but you’re a werewolf. You’re hard to kill.”

Thank God for that.

I grabbed the water bottle. My hands were shaking so much that more water splashed on me than got in my mouth. The pain had left my limbs, but terror lingered. The waves still lapped at my toes, and I wanted to move back but couldn’t.

I wasn’t sure if I should be crying right now, but I felt disconnected. Like I was floating above my body.

“You’re in shock.”

I licked my lips. “I don’t understand…” My hands still shook as I drank from the water bottle again, this time taking little sips. The fact that I’d almost died was so crazy and felt surreal. “What happened?” I asked Dastien, who was kneeling beside me. And then I realized something scarier.

I grabbed his wrist, needing a connection to him. “Why can’t I hear you in my head? Why can’t I feel—” For a heartbeat, I could feel his paralyzing fear so strong it was as if I was drowning all over again. I couldn’t breathe as his confusion swamped me. His anger raged through my veins. And guilt. Guilt so strong I—
He tightened the bond, and all his emotions dulled just enough to make it bearable. “I didn’t mean to scare you.”

He paused his forehead to mine, and I knew he needed the touch just as much as I did. “I don’t know what happened. All I could tell was that you were in pain and disoriented. If you never go swimming again—”

“It wasn’t the swimming—”

“Being a wolf and sw—”

“It was different.” I drew up my knees, creating space between us.

Swimming might be harder as a Were, but I was fine out there. Whatever had happened to me out there, it was a magical attack. I knew that much. “We’ve been here for nearly two weeks. Have I had any problems in the water?”

He was quiet because we both knew the answer.

I laid back on the sand, throwing an arm over my eyes to block the sun. My senses were on overload and I felt raw and empty. What had happened out there?

Sometimes we must let go of what was, appreciate what remains and fearlessly embrace what comes next.

Sebastian Bas

Born to a family of outlaws, I was destined to ride with the Satans Knights MC. With mayhem and havoc in my blood and chaos living deep in my soul, I learned the Devil don't sleep. You never hear him creeping and he often comes disguised as everything you ever wanted.

I was just teenager when she first showed, masquerading as the girl of my dreams. A whiskey shootin spitfire who knocked me on my ass and helped me turn the town upside down. The girl who stole my heart with her smile and never gave it back. The same bitch who ruined me and turned my blood to ice.

It's been six years since I turned my back on Mac, my family and my club. I've pushed her to the back of my head, wrote everyone off and damned the Kentucky charter to hell. But, where God built a church, the Devil built a chapel.

Now, her life is on the line and it's clear I'm still a sucker for her gorgeous chaos because I'm the one riding to her rescue.

Mackenzie Mac

I often dreamed of what it would be like to stare into Bas' blue eyes again. To hear his raspy voice whisper his love for me and feel his strong arms around me. After all, it's always been in his embrace that I felt the safest.

In my dreams, he abolishes my sins and forgives me for breaking both our hearts.

But this is no dream.

I'm running from a nightmare and the one running with me, looks at me with enough anger to burn the world to ash.

Once upon a time, we were in love.
Once upon a time, it was us against the world.
Once upon a time, he didn't look at me and see the Devil.

If only he knew the truth.
If only he knew the Devil was a broken angel with tattered wings.

An angel who sacrificed her heart and soul for him.

***NOTE: Contains explicit sexual situations, violence, offensive language, and mature topics. Not recommended for people under the age of 18***

5 Stars

The Satan's Knights ride again and what a ride it is! Even the devil can't stop Jack Parish from claiming and protecting his property.

Bas has just finished his prison sentence and looking forward to be reunited with the love of his life. What he finds is totally heartwrencing.

Mac has been putting up with a lot of obstructions from certain members of the club during Bas' absence. Unfortunately, everything takes a turn for the worse before his release, and what he sees isn't what it appears to be.

In his distress, Bas leaves his club to join Jack Parish in New York. He is just about existing for the pain that he is going through is unbearable. When he receives a call from home about Mac being in danger, he does the honourable thing. He isn't happy about the situation, but past history wins. Their second reunion is as awkward and as painful as the first one. The difference is that this time he gets to hear Mac's story after stalling for so long. What he learns is brutal and heartbreaking. Can they pick up where they left off or will they continue to resist their true feelings?

I have enjoyed this series from the first one and must admit that Bas' and Mac's story goes a step higher. It's a tangled plot which is slowly unravelled to get to the bottom of all the misgivings and come to a more than satisfying conclusion. Ryder adds so much more to the story. It's action packed with all the right ingredients for a fabulous read. Fantastic!

Captivated by Bethany-Kris - Blog Tour

by Bethany-Kris
Publication Date: July 9, 2018
Genres: Adult, Romantic Suspense, Organized Crime. Erotic Romance, Standalone

A shadow meets the light

When someone needs to disappear, the Chicago mob calls on Joe Rossi. A man who can move without a sound, and kill without a word, they don't call him the Shadow for nothing.

This time, it's a New York crime family in need of his skills, but it takes one glimpse of her to make him agree to the job.

Liliana Marcello is every inch a principessa della mafia. Her life has taught her to be wary of strangers, yet her ballet career contradicts everything by putting her on display.

It's a man with a dark smile and a constantly changing demeanor that makes her feel safe again, but it's the unknown that holds her back.

It takes one look
One dance
One word
One smile to captivate a man.
And one second to kill a woman because of it, too.

Not all monsters hide in the shadows.
How are you supposed to see them coming?

5 Stars

The Rossis and the Marcellos together. What could be better? Captivated outdoes my expectations by far. A real treat! Then again, nothing less can be expected from this author.

Joe Rossi, son of Damian from the Chicago outfit is the embodiment of Alpha perfection. He might not have the most desirable role in the outfit, but he carries his love and loyalty with pride and honour.

Liliana Marcello, daughter of Julian from the New York mob family isn't the typical principessa. Although, she is discreetly protected, she enjoys what she loves. A graceful and talented ballerina on stage in the public eye.

The Marcellos are in need of someone to eradicate some rotten apples who through corruption have wronged the family. Who better to do the job than Joe? He is not enthused as the job takes him away from Chicago, but agrees at this father's request. The other reason, is an elegant beautiful blonde who catches his eyes. No other woman has ever captivated him at first sight and he wants to know what’s so different about Liliana.

A stroke of luck gives him the opportunity that he needs. What can be better than shadowing Liliana? The chemistry between them is instant and sizzling hot, but nothing is ever easy. Liliana's life is in danger and he discovers that it's tied to his primary purpose. The more reason to eliminate the marks and give Liliana the respite that she deserves. It's not so straightforward though. Rich, the rich spoilt brat is doing some shadowing of his own and when Liliana goes missing, it's all hell let loose. Will Joe be able to get to her before too much damage is done?

Captivated definitely held me captive from begenning to end. It's relentless and fast paced. It's full of twists and the suspense when the clock is ticking is excruciating. The love and passion between Joe and Liliana are breathtaking. The poetic justice towards the end is a stroke of genius. I make no secret about my love for the Marcellos and reading other aspects of their characters is an added bonus. Absolutely love Joe and Liliana. Magnificent couple.

I received an eARC and the views expressed are my personal opinion.
